One of the best pieces of advice that my mentor ever gave me was, he said,
man, you got to give yourself permission to be imperfect, you know.
And really, I found that that's, at least for me, the only way that I know how to learn, you know.
Because if I have to be so perfect and if I put that pressure on myself,
then when I blow it or when I'm wrong, when I'm imperfect, it's so devastating
that I just can't allow myself [F] to know any of that.
Does that make sense, you know?
And I'm sure we've all met people probably like that who can't allow,
they don't know how to allow themselves to know their own shortcomings and imperfections
and sin and stuff like that, you know.
But if we can do that, and I really think that that's what grace is all about.
I think that God designed grace to be this safe place so that we can actually see our sin,
our imperfection, our shortcomings, and not be so destroyed by it,
[F] but can humbly learn what we need to learn and move past it.
Does that make sense?
[C] So I guess this is a song about all that.
It's just about making peace that you and I are a work in progress.
And that's what counts, right?
That it's progress.
So, all right.
It's called, I'm Becoming. I'm Becoming.
[Gm] [Bb] [F]
[C] [Gm] [Bb]
