Jason Gray sings "Order, Disorder, Reorder" chords
Start Jamming...
I'm gonna play another new one.
I'm gonna play you like three, maybe four more songs.
Is that cool?
I know it's getting warm.
I don't wanna
I won't leave you wanting one more instead of five less, you know.
[G#]
Um
A pattern in my life is [D#] that when I've gone through great pain,
[Bm] it has raised at least three questions in my mind.
One of them is, I've done something wrong and I've made God angry with me.
And he's punishing me or he's withdrawn himself from me.
My mind goes there or it goes to
Or maybe he just doesn't care about me.
Or it goes to maybe he's not real.
So either way, it so often has produced a crisis of some kind of faith crisis, you know.
But I got new language that has changed that for me.
And the language goes something like this.
That we are being transformed.
You and I are being transformed.
And I believe more and more
I think I believe that that is what Christianity is primarily about.
That it is primarily a transformation engine.
Something like that.
But that we are [E] being transformed when we are moving along the spectrum
from order into disorder into reorder.
And what that means for me is, you know, we're going along in life.
We think, alright, I got this down.
I got things figured out.
I got my act together.
I've got order in my life.
Right?
And then all of a sudden something happens and it blows it all up, right?
Everything falls apart.
And then I get anxious.
I'm like, oh no, something's wrong.
Something's gone wrong.
I'm wrong or God's wrong or something.
But I just have come to recognize the only way that I, for some reason,
maybe you're not like this, but it seems like I'm hard-headed enough
or I hold so tightly to the things I know because they represent order.
And we are desperate for order, right?
Because that gives us a place to stand in the world.
And we know how to live our lives then if there's some kind of framework and order.
And so I can just cling so tightly to it.
And it becomes an idol, you know, in a lot of ways.
And so it has to get blown up in order for me to be able to be open enough
to learn something new, you know.
And so the falling apart is a necessary part of my transformation.
And it's what prepares the way for reorder.
And so what that's done for me now is when I find myself in chaos,
things are going wrong,
I'm like, you know what, actually I think I'm in disorder right now,
which means reorder is right around the corner.
And so I'm going to lean into this and see what I can learn,
what is there for me to learn.
Because it's an amazing opportunity.
This disorder, I want to make the most of it.
So hopefully it doesn't have to come around again, you know.
So this is a song about that.
I thought everything was as it should [B] be.
I believed that it was all up to [C#m] me.
So I tried to keep [F#] control.
[E] And I lost everything I thought that I [B] knew.
I couldn't see that you were leading [C#m] me to something [F#] beautiful.
[E] Order disorder reorder over and over.
[B] Order disorder reorder over and over.
[C#m] It wouldn't be the way I [E] choose.
This is how you make me new.
[E] So here I am I'm all in.
[B] Though it feels like falling.
[C#m] That's what it takes for you to break through.
[E] Order disorder reorder over and over and over.
And I, a storm would never come to [B] an end.
I begged you again [C#m] and again to send a [A] miracle.
[F#]
[E] The storm was the way you broke my heart open [B] wide.
To get to what was hidden [C#m] inside.
And call it [E] beautiful.
Oh, order disorder reorder over and over.
[B] Order disorder reorder over and over.
[C#m] It wouldn't be the way I [E] choose.
This is how you make me new.
So here I am I'm all in.
[B] Though it feels like falling.
[C#] That's what it takes for you to break [E] through.
Order disorder reorder over and over and over.
I don't really [B] want to change.
If I'm telling [C#m] you the truth.
But like [E] it or not your love won't stop till it makes me [B] new.
So give me all [F#] that you got from the [E] bottom to top till I look like [B] you.
Order disorder reorder over and [B] over.
Order disorder reorder over and over.
[G#] It wouldn't be the way I choose.
[A] But this is [E] how you make me [E] new.
So here I am I'm all in.
[B] Though it feels like falling.
[C#m] That's what it takes for you to break through.
[F#] Order disorder reorder over and over [E] and over.
[B]
Order disorder [C#m]
reorder.
[F#] Order disorder reorder over and over and over.
