But I, you know, I've always had, my first relationship has always been with the unknown,
you know, and some people call it the spiritual world, some people call it, you know, God,
whatever, whatever it is.
I'm still trying to figure out what I want to call it, you know, but it's unknown and
it's always driven my life.
It's always, there's always been something that's dropped melodies and dropped stories
into my mind and into my conscious or lifted it out of my subconscious, whatever you, whatever,
however it works.
I spent my whole life trying to explore that and what that is and I'm so hooked on it like
a drug that I want it to happen again and again and again.
And so really that's been my first relationship.
You know, in fact, all my other relationships fail because I'm so devoted to this infinite
unknown, you know, and I'm yours was actually, you know, as fast as it was written, I'm yours
when I sat down and first started chugging along the chords.
By the time it was over, it was about 20 minutes, the whole song was written and it is itself
a song at the time was me singing to that unknown, you know, I didn't know what was
there and what was available for me.
I was just kind of saying, I'm yours, you know, I'm, I'm surrendering to this.
So there's a line in the song, I tried to be chill, but you [Eb] so hot I melted.
Okay.
I might've had a girlfriend at the [F] time as well.
So Jason, would you [B] go for it?
Sounds good.
Sounds good.
Yeah, there was this, there was this fantastic moment where I was a full, a full year before
I started working on Mr.
before I started working on We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things.
I did some backpacking around Europe and had a few offers to play in festivals, but most
I was playing in people's backyards and asking fans to help me organize concerts and playing
in small clubs and because we really hadn't broken in Europe, but I knew there were fans there.
So we reached out to the fans and said, we just want to come and play for you.
And like I said, a full year before I even started working on We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things.
And one of my visits was to Northern Sweden in a little town called Borlänge where they
have a music festival there.
And, you know, much like many places I'd never been there before and thought, okay, I'm
going to, it'll be a concert of introducing myself.
Yet there were thousands of people that showed up and by the time we played I'm Yours,
even more people had come out and filled the streets and there was about 10,000 people
singing I'm Yours like it was the Swedish national anthem.
And I realized then that there was something going on with this song.
You know, it only existed on the internet.
It only existed as an acoustic demo that I let go for free and it only existed as a
performance on YouTube that I did in Korea.
You know, it was so people, I knew then that the song needed a home.
It couldn't just exist in the live show.
It couldn't just exist on the internet.
I needed to give it a birthday.
And so that was really became the foundation for We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things.
I said, I know I'm yours, can live on this album.
I'm going to, now I have an opportunity to write brother and sister songs to it.
You know, and you know, I know I told you what I'm yours was for me when I wrote it,
but what it's really become and what I love about the song is it's a song about generosity.
It's about giving yourself or your time to someone else.
It says I'm yours, you know, and when I sing it in concert, I watch the audience and
they sing it to each other.
You know, I'm not even there.
And, and I love that.
That, that to me is a sign of a really great song is when you don't, you don't even
in 10 years, you won't even remember who wrote the damn thing, but you'll remember
the song and what you were doing that summer and who you were with.
You know, this guy will remember that he was with this girl and, uh, and that'll be great.
It got, it got to contribute in some way, you know, so.
So I'll sing this song.
[Gb] [Abm] [E]
[B] [Gb]
[G] [Abm] Well, [E]
[B] you done done me in your bed.
I felt [Gb] I tried to be chill, but you're so hot that [G] I melted.
[Abm] I fell right through the cracks.
[E] And now I'm trying to get back [B] before the cool done run out.
I'll be giving it my best.
This [Gb] is nothing going to stop me.
But divine [Abm] intervention.
I reckon it's again, my turn [E] to ruin something, learn [B] something, but I won't hesitate.
[Gbm]
[Ebm] No more, [Abm] no more.
It cannot [E] wait.
I'm yours.
[B] [Gb]
[Abm] [E]
[B] We'll open up your mind to see [Gb] like me open up your plans and damn [Abm] your free.
I look into your heart and you'll [E] find a love, love, love, love.
[B] And listen to the music of the moment.
People [Gb] dance and sing.
We're just one big [Abm] family.
And it's our God intended right [E] to be love, love, love, [B] love, love.
So I won't [Gb] hesitate.
No more, no [Abm] more.
It cannot [E] wait.
I'm sure [B] there's no need to [Gb] complicate.
Our time [Abm] is short.
This is [E] our fate.
I'm [B] yours.
Do [Gb] [Abm] you [Gb] want a cold morning?
[E] Scooch on over closer dear.
[F] Sing with me this [B] song of love.
[Ebm] Wow.
[Abm] Wow.
[Gb] [E]
[Eb] I've [B] been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror and [Gb] bending over backwards
just to try to see it [Abm] cleaver.
But my breath fogged up the glass.
[E] And so I drew a new face and I laughed.
[B] I guess what I've been saying is there ain't no better [Gb] reason to rid yourself of vanity.
Just go with the [Abm] seasons.
It's what we aim to do.
[E] Our name is our virtue.
[B] But I won't [Gb] hesitate.
No more, no [Abm] more.
It cannot [E] wait. I'm [B] yours.
So well, open up your mind.
You [Gb] see like me.
Open up your plans.
[Abm] Damn, you're free.
I look into your heart and you [E] find that this sky is yours.
[B] So please don't.
There's no need.
[Gb] There's no need to complicate.
[Abm] Because our time is short.
This or this or [E] this is our fate.
I, I, I, I, [Eb] I'm yours.
Hey, baby, [E] this is our space.
So I will [F] always be yours.
[E] Yeah, yeah.
I will [F] always be yours.
[C] [E]
[B] [Ab] Thank [Gb] [E]
you.
