_ [D] _ Jeff Crosby just had to have some [G] fiddle in the band for our taping session at Billy [C] Bob's Texas.
He [G] grabbed Reckless Kelly's Cody Braun for his performance of Runnin' Free.
[C] Makes sense.
Cody played on the track in the studio as [D] well.
Yeah, Runnin' Free [G] is one of the [E] singles we put [Em] out kind of early last year.
[G] Just kind of leading up to the record.
It was the first song I wrote when we all kind of [Em] had to go into lockdown.
[D] I realized [C] I got a call from our booking agent.
He [D] told me we were pretty much going to have [G]
three to [C] six months off.
After [G] getting that call, I [C] ran up in the mountains in Idaho.
I was living in Nashville at the time and [G] decided to just go hide out in the hills.
Didn't [E] even touch my guitar for about a month.
[D] When I finally got into writing again, it was the first [C] song I ended up finally getting a pen to [G] paper.
Kind of a tribute to my hometown and all the things I missed about being there.
Didn't realize I was going [C] to appreciate so much being stuck there through the pandemic stuff.
We did a version of it and [E] recorded over in Portland, Oregon with a friend of mine, Greg Williams.
Then I sent it via [C] email over to [G] Cody.
He brought it over to Jonathan Tyler's [D] studio down in Austin.
[G] Cody and I put some fiddle on it and then Jonathan added a bunch of production ideas.
We can credit Jonathan Tyler with the [C] glockenspiel on that record.
It ended up coming out [G] super cool.
Just getting Cody and Jonathan's [D] perspective of it.
By the time they sent it back, it was like, kind of [G] transformed it.
It's one of my favorite songs on the record.
Finally, we don't get to fly Cody Braun out for [F#] every gig, but tonight we finally get to have him.
We get to do the real version.
