[G] This song written by a friend of mine Gary B.
White.
We were in a band in 1968.
We lived in the Sheraton Cockroachville apartment in New York City together.
And as I was writing Mr.
Bojangles to get some money to get out of town,
Gary was across the way putting together a song called Long, Long Time
that Linda Ronstadt got him enough money to get out of town with.
I'd say cowboys would just run around with a guitar, getting stuck somewhere,
writing a song about wanting to be back, whether they get enough money,
and then they get some money and they go get stuck somewhere else again.
Pretty soon they have a career.
That's [N] cowboy logic for you right there [G] folks.
[C] So I, for years I've been going to play this song and now it's my turn.
[D] Long, [Em] long
[C] time
[D] [G] Love

[C] [Em] That's what someone told me
[A] But there's no one at [D] my side
And [C] time [D] [Em] washes clean
[C] [D] Love's wounds [G] unseen
