Start Jamming...
As we mentioned earlier, you can see him at the O'odham as well as the Hilton, but we have him here today at the Maiden of [F#] Hawai'i Festival.
Almost like a staple every [A#] year.
So we're so [E] happy to have him back again this year.
[G#] You folks, show your appreciation and [D#] your love.
One more time, big round of applause for one of our great Gary Saunders.
[N] I know this is going way over time, so I was coming out.
No, [Am] it's not insane.
[A] Is there anything I can play [F] for you folks?
What?
What [D#] is that?
[E] That's a song.
That's a [B] song on one of the
[E] Kuu home okahalu.
Yeah, kuu home okahalu.
[B]
[E] [C#m] [E] I [C#m] wrote [E] this song when I was about [C#m] 20 years old.
[E] It's been with me [C#m] for a very long time.
People say, you should [E] play it again, that song.
[C#m] I say no, because it reminds me who [E] I am, where I come from in the world.
My ha'anae sister, Donna, taught me to play [C#m] the guitar when we were probably [E] about 11 years old.
She was a student at Sacred Hearts Academy.
And the nana there, I can't remember her name, [C#m] but sister taught the girls to play guitar.
Nogendani Sepreana was one of them, too.
Nana came [E] home and taught the rest of us to play.
And by the time we [C#m] were in high school, [E] we all had our okinawa [C#m] musical groups and we would battle it out.
And [E] Youth Night in the Shell [C#m] during Halahoi.
[E] My sister chose [C#m] to live her life close to home.
She [E] stayed there on the Windward side, [C#m] became [E] part of the choir [C#m] directors there at our lady of Karamao Church [E] in Waikani.
[C#m] And I took what she taught me and ran off into the world to have adventures.
[A] [E] And so [C#m] this was really a [E] letter to her.
I had [C#m] been living in San Francisco for about a year [E] and a half, having those adventures, making some new friends.
But you always worry that if you [C#m] stray too far from the home front, [E] how will that change you?
[C#m] And will it change [E] your perception of the world?
But [A] I think if you have a really strong [E] foundation and you love the place [C#m] that you come from, and the family [E] that supports you,
the world is just a waste.
Anyway, out of that [C#m] came this.

[C#m] [E] It was a great finale scene.

[C#m] I have four [E] dreams and you [C#m] have the only thing, my [E] sister, and I [C#m] know all your [E] cancels.
[A] [B] Last night I dreamt I was [E] with you.
[A] And my heart fell [E] to you.
But the [C#m] fear and my misery
[E]
Make it all a [F#] whole new world.
[E] [B]
Change is a strange thing [E] it cannot be denied.
[B] It can help you find your son, it's always a future bright.
[A] Move within solid, [E] it's all overgrown.
[A] Please do not hold on to me, [B] we're almost all alone.
I remember [C#m] this, the [E] previous night.
When we laughed [C#m] and sang, no one I loved.
And I'll greet you [C#m] as I do [E] with you.
With a sharing of a grateful [E] song.
[B] Last night I dreamt I [E] was with you.
[A] And my heart fell to you.
[E] So please [C#m] accept me as your [E] family.
Make it all [B] a whole new world.
[E]
Make it all a whole new world.
Make it all a whole new world.
