I'd like to introduce my band over here on acoustic guitar and acoustic guitar
two different guitars Maury [C#] Muleisen
That's Maury
[F] We [B] lived down in the same area back in Eastern, Pennsylvania.
That's where a lot of these songs had their origins
[N] It's kind of funny because when I was growing up in order to
[E] Really have some kind of luck getting a girl to go out with you had to have a really
Souped
fancy super-duper kind of car
With a lot of chrome on it.
I remember there was always [B] a kid in your high school that had two or three jobs
Support this very heavy chrome habit
[E] Used to have that have a car that like when you'd lift up the hood it would look back at you
You know one of those JC Whitney specials where everything came out of the catalog
But in the neighborhood where I lived, [G] you know
Some kids would send for the parts from the JC [Em] Whitney catalog
And [B] then there were others who would go to the midnight auto supply.
I think every big city had one of those kind of things
There's a friend of mine named Nikki used to walk around with a screwdriver in his back pocket
And a little [E] socket wrench [B] and all you'd have to do is go through the catalog and pick out the part and say
Nikki, there's one of these parts down on Second Street and come back with the chrome mirror and everything
That was a whole different time though
Like now it's gotten into stock cars and sports cars and everything
So where we're living is like pickup truck country
We see the guys with the rifle racks in the back windows and on Sunday
When they aren't out cutting their lawns with the lawnmowers with the rifle racks in the back
They're out at the stock car races and we go up to stock car races [E] in Reading, Pennsylvania
[G] Every Sunday when we're home and watch the guys sitting up on the bank [D#] drinking an RC Cola eating a powerhouse candy bar
So just [N] imagine like we're in Reading, Pennsylvania, which is by the way, the pretzel capital of the world
And we're going into a time warp at Sunday afternoon no matter where we are and we're gonna watch a stock car races
[Em]
[E] [Bm] [B] At stock car [E] boy, he too much to believe
You know, we always got a [Em] back of cigarettes rolled up in his [Bm] t-shirt sleeve
[E] He got a tattoo on his arm.
I say baby.
He got another one.
They just say [C#] hey
But every Sunday afternoon, he is a dirt track [A] demon in his 57 [C#] Chevrolet
Ain't it a rapid Roy that stock car [E] boy.
He the best driver in the land
You know, he say that he [Em] learned to raise a stock car [F#] by running shine out of [Bm] Alabama
Whoa, the demolition [Em] Derby and the figure [E] eight is easy money [F#] in the bank
Gonna be the [G] running from the man in Oklahoma [F#] City with a 500 gallon tank
[C#] Hey, it's a rapid Roy that stock car boy.
[F#] He too much to believe
You know, we always got a [Em] extra pack of cigarettes [C#] rolled up in his t [Bm]-shirt sleeve
[E] They got a tattoo on his arm, I say baby, he got another one that [F#] you say hey
But every Sunday afternoon, he is a [Em] dirt track demon in his 57 Chevrolet
[B] [E] [Em]
[E] [Bm] [B] Whoa Roy so cool that recent [A] fool.
He don't know what [F#] fear is about
He do a hundred thirty [Em] mile an hour smiling at the camera with a toothpick [B] in his mouth
[B] He gotta go back home.
They more Dixie don't but he got honeys all along [F#] the way
And you all are eating screaming for the dirt track demon in his 57 Chevrolet
[Em] And here's a rapid Roy that stock car boy.
