_ Hello all good people.
We're going to do some more Hendrix because rhythmically I think he's one of my favorites.
And since you can't teach Van Halen on YouTube it makes me really sad.
So we'll teach my second favorite rhythm guy.
_ _ Actually they're about time.
_ _ _ _ Alright so we're going to start off with an A as in the other Hendrix lesson, the little
wing lesson I gave.
_ The thumb is back.
So we're going to start off, you hit the chord, the A chord.
[A] _ _ [F#] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ So you mute down and _ [A#m] upstroke and [F#]
drag your finger down.
And then you're going to go to the E major.
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ E, D. _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ And then you're going to go with your thumb.
[F#] _ _ _
_ [E] _ _ [F#m] _ _ So that's _ an F _ [A] sharp minor chord.
_ _ _ _ _ [F#] _
_ _ _ [F#m] _ _ _ _
So that's on the G and the B.
_ _ [A] _
_ _ Hammer on and pull off, let the B ring.
_ _ [Am] And then you're going to go [F#]
second fret, second fret of D and G and hammer on to the fourth,
letting the G ring open.
[F#m] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [E] So we got _ _
_ _ [F#] _ _ _ [F#m] _ _ _
_ [B] _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ [F#m] _ _ _ _ [A#]
that seventh fret.
[Dm] _ _ _ _ [A] _
[F#m] _ _ _ [N] Hammering on to the ninth fret of the D string, keeping the seventh fret of the [D] G open.
_ _ _ And then _ just the same thing up a set of strings so now it's the A and the D. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [F] _ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _
_ [F#] _ _ [F#m] _ _ _ [Dm] _ _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
Then you're going to grab [F#] the A note with your thumb and grab the bottom B and [F#m] E strings.
[A] _ _ _
_ So you're [F#m] going to hammer on.
[F#] _ _
Same kind of deal where you're hammering on the top string letting the bottom string ring [A] out. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _
[F#] _ _ _ _ [F#m] _ _ _
Same thing as you did in the [F#] beginning.
Now we're going to go [D] back to the D chord and go.
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ So that's D.
_ _ _ [C#] _ _ [A] _
_ [F#] Moving that down one fret, the bass note, to [D] C sharp.
_ _ [C#] _ _ [F#m] _ _
_ _ _ _ This time you're not pulling off, you're just hammering on. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ Actually you do on this one, sorry.
On the D and the G. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [F#] _
[D] _ _ _ [A] _ _ [F#m] _ _ _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _
Back to that A. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ So [F#] that is fourth and fifth on the G and the B.
[A]
And _ [B] then you're going to hammer on to the sixth fret.
[A] _ _ What you're really doing is you're just taking apart of this A major chord. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Dm] _ _ _ [C#] _ _ _ [F#m] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [B] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Bm] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ _ [B] _ _ [F#] So you're just going [B] down the B minor chord. _ _ _ _
[F] And then you're going to hammer on to the tenth [D] fret.
_ _ _ _ _ [B] _ _ _
_ Sorry, okay so it's the tenth fret pull off and then you're going to hammer on D [Bm] string seven to nine.
Back _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Em] _ _ it into a G [G] shape.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ So that's tenth fret and then you're going to bar the seventh fret. _
_ And then you're going to hammer on, or you're actually going to pick to the ninth fret.
Let the G ring open, ninth fret on the D. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [D] _ _
_ _ _ [F#m] _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ _ [Bm] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [G#] _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
That's [N] just the major chords from G, G sharp _ [A] to A. _ _ _
_ So let's do this all one more time. _
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [F#] _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ [F#m] _ _
_ [D] _ _ [C#] _ _ [F#m] _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [Bm] _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
[Bm] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ [G#] _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _
Yes!
So once again, _ _ _ Hendrix Rhythm.
It's good as it gets man.
You gotta learn some out _ _ there on YouTube.
_ _ _ _ Accessible to Love, the whole album is awesome.
_ _ Totally worth it, every penny.
Little Wings on it too.
Both of these songs you have to tune down a half step.
_ E flat.
Alright, [N] good luck. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [F#m] _ _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ [F#] _ _ _
_ [D] _ _ [C#] _ _ [F#m] _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [Bm] _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ [D] _
