So, we got this Gypsy Knopfler kind of music here going on.
And we're in the key of B minor, and I want to show you a few of the licks that I [Em] did in here, the key licks.
We started out with an E minor, and we're going to play this version up here, up high.
Okay?
What I do is, I do like a little splat-a-lee-doo, we call it.
[G]
Almost sounds like echo, doesn't it?
So [Em] what I'm doing is, I'm taking just that part of the E minor chord here, you see what I'm doing?
From the G, the G string, I've got an E note.
Following the E minor chord, just the partial version, the last three notes of the E minor chord.
Ending with a high B.
What I do is, I do like sort of a flamenco.
[G]
What I do is, I repeat it three times, four times.
And I do it softer each time, so it starts out strong.
[Bm] There you go.
[G] So it sounds like it's echoing.
[Bm] [B] And then I go back to the B minor.
[Bm] [A] [Bm]
Just working out in the B minor there.
[B] [Bm] And then I go back, and what I'll do is, I'll jump up to [B] the octave E on the A string.
[Em]
[E] [B]
[Bm]
I'll use my volume pedal to bring it in.
And then when it starts in, you hear me counting in, one, two, [G] three, four.
The G chord, B [Bm] minor chord, kind of [G] a bouncy rhythm.
[A]
[Bm] Okay, I'm going to show you what I do there.
The melody goes
[D] Simply go
That's even better.
Okay, so [B] what you're doing is, you're running off a G chord here.
So you start out with your B on a G string.
And then the next note is the D note.
[Bm] Okay?
[B]
[G#] Classic Knopfler lick, that one.
[G] [F#m]
I'll slow that down for you.
And then I'll go back to [B]
[D] the E [E] note.
I'll stretch the E up.
[D] [F#] F sharp, E, D.
[A#] [Bm]
[F#] [D] [E]
[D] [Bm]
[B] [E] [D] Now we're going to stretch the E up to [F#] the F sharp and include the high A on the E string, okay?
[Bm]
Almost a country lick, but it's got such a gypsy quality to it.
[E]
[F#m] [G#] A little vibrato at the end.
So here's what it sounds like up to speed.
[E]
[F#] And then here I'm going to do a double stop.
[G] In the G position, stretching that D on the B string.
Then up to the A position.
[Am] Okay.
[G] [A] Double stop.
Now here comes the money shot.
[Bm]
That's the money riff.
Very, very Mark [F#] Knopfler.
[E]
[Bm] [Bm] So I'm going to take this one
