After the runaways broke up and having sort of yeah sort of no hope
Sort of feeling like everything was for nothing
feeling laughed at you know feeling distraught really distraught and having nobody to turn to I
Didn't feel that I could necessarily go explain it all to my family, and then they were gonna get it
Nobody would get it.
It's a disease.
You know it's a disease and
A lot of I think it's the fact that you keep trying to believe that you're normal like everybody else and unfortunately you're not you're diabetic
You have to take insulin.
You know if you're an alcoholic or you're a drug addict.
You just can't do it people medicate because they just
Don't want to face
Their true feelings you know and and Cory.
It's terrible and it breaks my heart
I think people lose hope and I think that that's just that's that's the tragic part of it is because
There's always hope I definitely was pretty extreme
But success helped me you know focus
What was what was proper?
You know I took it right to death's door
with my drug addiction and
Then right at the last minute.
I just I had this moment of clarity and I realized you know hey
I don't want this.
I'm not gonna let this happen you can survive and you can thrive, but you just you know you have to make
That commitment unfortunately you got to make that commitment, and that's just know that something that doesn't work, and it doesn't work
It's never gonna work eventually I met my
my best friend Kenny Laguna who
He's my producer and my songwriting partner, and you got stuck being my manager because nobody else wanted to deal with it
But you know through the support of
Him and his wife Meryl they really
Helped me keep the eye on the ball, and I was able to sort of slowly
Pull myself out of because I just didn't want to go there anymore.
You know I didn't want to do that
And be sort of out of control so
Focusing on the work was what helped me, but not [Am] that's not always
[B] the case for people you know and it's just like
You want to have fun?
You know when you're not ready to be done
And that's why [C#] I think a [D] lot of times people just I want one more night
You know I want one more [G#m] time one more good night of partying
[E] And you know you're always going to that you know I'll do it [A] tomorrow
And then now never gets you never get to that tomorrow, and then [D] you know wind up getting in trouble
[Em] It's it's it's so easy.
[N] You know to be on that edge first of all they're not alone and
And they're not different really there's so much fun stuff there that can't
Just can't drink can't you know it's okay?
It's okay?
But you got you've got to make that that you got to turn that corner you have to or
You know what happened to Cory's is inevitable
I think you need love and support and somebody strong enough to tell you You know
You're in trouble, and you better get it together or
Sort of feeling like everything was for nothing
feeling laughed at you know feeling distraught really distraught and having nobody to turn to I
Didn't feel that I could necessarily go explain it all to my family, and then they were gonna get it
