Alright, so here's what this is.
I have a little bit of a problem.
I have a little
[Ab] Hi, my name is Joe.
[N] Hi Joe.
And I'm really proud because I had just a little bit to do with this guitar.
And I've made it no secret that in the course of my playing career,
Paul Kossoff has been a huge influence on me.
And my friend Steve in the UK, works for Marshall Amps,
rang me up one day and he goes,
I have a friend named Arthur Ram has a very special guitar.
And it's Paul Kossoff's 59 Les Paul.
So my initial conversation was like,
have him bring it down to the gate.
[Gb]
So [E] we're playing [Am] Newcastle City Hall.
This is two years ago.
And this very nice man shows up in a brown bikini girl case
and out comes Paul Kossoff's 59 Les Paul.
And I [B] was just happy to be in the same room with it for obvious reasons,
going, wow, that's the guitar in the picture.
You know, like, you know, all those, you know, I'll, you know,
all those great, you know, pictures, iconic pictures of Paul Kossoff.
And to my surprise, Arthur [Ab] was nice enough,
not only because he had a gig that night that he,
so he couldn't make my show.
He left the guitar with me.
[B] And he goes, hey, if you want to play it [Em] on stage, it'd be great.
[N] So there Pat Foley had flown up Gibson Custom Shop to meet Arthur
and start the initial conversations about this guitar.
And I plug it up during sound check.
And immediately you go into the,
[G] [C] [N]
like what you would imagine.
So long story short, over the course of a couple of years,
this guitar has been in development.
[E] And, you know, for me, this is a real [N] special moment
because I've played the original three times.
And when they, I saw it for the first time today,
I said, boy, they really nailed the guitar.
I mean, they got everything from the, the, where the neck was broken
and almost on the fifth fret and back where,
and all the dings and scratches, you know, the barrel knobs
and the tailpiece [B] and everything else.
And the cool thing was, as you just heard,
the guitar actually sounds really good too.
And it sounds like a burst.
So here it is, the Paul [N] Kossoff model.
And, you know, if you don't know who Paul Kossoff is,
you should check him out because Free is one of the greatest underrated bands
ever to come out of the UK, come out of anywhere really.
And Paul Kossoff is one of the greatest underrated guitar players
that not, it's not a household name, but he should be.
And, you know, this is a great tribute to one of my favorite guitar players.
So thank you very much.
