Hey, this is John 5 and a lot of people ask me about combining
You know country licks with with metal licks or you know country licks into rock tunes or something like that
and it just makes it sound you know a little different doing doing things like that and
Just I don't know to me.
It's interesting and because you don't hear a lot of people do it, but if you like
Look at like old Chet Atkins videos and things like that
You know they're doing all sorts of crazy arpeggios
But
[A] they do it you know in like they do it just like that, but they have you know a cleaner tone
so they'll have [G] [E] like
[Am] [E] [B] [G] It's the same thing
[A] but there you know if you do it with distortion it sounds like metal, but you can do these [E] things and
Keep keep your you know as long as you don't add the major over your minor which works as well
you know I like I like to do that, but if you like are
rocking out you do like
Pulling off something like that and you're in the key of E
[Am] [Em]
[E] It totally works over some like you know heavy kind of
heavy kind of tune and
You're just kind of pulling off your octaves
So you have an E on your D string [Em] an E on your high E
And you're just pulling off and then you can go all over the scale E [Bb] B D A
[E] [D] [Em]
[Gb] [Em] You know B [Gb] G
[E]
Whatever you could do anything in in that scale whatever you're in
You [Am]
[Abm] [A] [Am] [E]
know and I like to do that kind of thing and
You know you can also be [Gbm] in your [Em] if you're in a E major
[D]
You know a lot of those [Db] country songs are [G] E major
[Abm]
You [A] can add
[E]
Cool sliding arpeggios, and it works
You know it works in the in the country in the country thing and [D] it makes it sound a little interesting that people
Don't always hear either you're playing a country session, or if you're doing a [E] rock session
So it makes it [Db] sound you know really [B] interesting that way
[E] so you have your
Your E, and I'm just pulling off with my thumb into my first finger
Your [G] B B octave on your
[B] fourth [E] string and your E string and you're just pulling off with your first finger
And it's all just your your thumb and your your first finger
And [Am]
you can mute it if you want it [Bb] depends on you know how much distortion you have on
But you know you can use [A] distortion
[E]
You [A] [Em]
[A] [E]
[Bb] [C] [Bb] [E]
[D] [Am] know and just cool things like that
[N]
