[B] With us today, a fantastic band that just only really come together in the last several months.
They're comprised of former pop sensation John Mayer, drummer Steven Jordan, and bassist Pino Palladino.
They're known as the John Mayer Trio, and they're here in studio to record [F#] some tracks
from John's new record.
So stay tuned.
We think you're really going to enjoy it.

Continuum is the result of everything I've done up until now.
And [A] that incorporates [Bm] a blues [G] feel, that incorporates a soul feel.
[D] Continuum is because of Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino.
It's because of the ride into the studio every day when I was writing, [A] listening to great
classic, timeless soul music, R&B music, and [D] blues music.
Waiting on the World to Change is my first real foray [A] into leaving the emotional [G] space
and going into the kind of world stage.
[D] While still being emotional, it's [Em] trying to [Bm] sum up a feeling that a lot of people my age
have about the world, where we feel like we can't participate [G] in it, [D] because we don't
feel like we have a fair shake in [Bm] changing anything.
[G] I'm really curious about being a [A] writer, [Bm] the kind of writer who [G] takes a shot [Dm] at exposing
a feeling everybody has but nobody [Bm] talks about, and [G] maybe being right about it.
I think when [C] fans put Continuum on, they're going to be hit with the organic soul feel.
Even though it's a pop record, there's a [F] real organic [G] quality that's shared with [Am] a lot of
really [G] cool soul [C] albums and R&B records.
[F]
Just that connected, [C] rhythmic, direct [F]
kind of production.
I Don't Trust Myself [D] With Loving You [C] is a song, one of the first [F] songs I wrote for this
record, which was coming up with this really kind of sexy [C] groove.
I went, man, that might be one of the sexiest, [F]
seductive sounding songs I've [Bm] ever written.
[C] [F]
But [Am] [C] [F]
I can't do another song where I'm writing about [Em] how I'm going to love you and lay you down.
[F] What about a song that sounds really sexy, [G] but the lyrics are completely [C] juxtaposed to
it, [E] and it's you saying, basically warning a girl about how it's just not really a good
idea to get [F] involved with you right now.
And it's [D] really just kind of a beware of me sign, but when it's [F] set to that song, it becomes really [C] complex.
And I've always liked lyrics that don't really match [F] the tone of a song.
It ends up actually probably being even more compelling that way.
That it's that sultry, but [C] it's like stay away from me.
Like you don't want to come near this.
