[C] That's John Mayer sitting in with the guitar band at the Blue Whale last week.
It's been a crazy week.
By the way, I'm aware that almost all of my vlogs recently have been starting with me
saying it's been a crazy week, but [E] there have been crazy weeks.
And yes, I'm editing on the floor because I spend too much time hunched over a desk
or with a saxophone hanging around my neck, so I'm trying to get some back muscle exercise.
I don't know if this is a great idea.
All right, I'm going to get back to this clip, but [N] we left off last time I was about to head
out to the airport.
I was headed to San Francisco.

_ [A] _ _ [D] _ _ [N] _ It's a rainy day in San Francisco.
Surprise.
Making a little walk to the Whole Foods right now to grab some coffee and some kind of breakfast,
kind of lunch, and then got a whole bunch of work to do in the hotel room.
Learn some more music and then off to Soundcheck.
Well, actually, no Soundcheck, just a concert tonight.
We get to see SF Jazz Collective and Eric Harland and Sakir Hussain and Cindy Blackman
and Joe Lovano and Terrence Blanchard.
And then we play with Snarky Puppy and David Crosby for an after-party gala thing.
And I catch the first flight out tomorrow morning to get back to LA to do some teaching
in the afternoon and play [A#] the Blue Whale with my guitar band. _

_ [N] It was _ an incredible evening.
There was so much musical talent under one roof.
It was hard to take in.
I couldn't help myself.
I had to take a picture because I was getting to hang out with some of the greatest saxophone
players of our lifetime.
It was truly a pinch-me moment.
And this photo, this was taken by none other than David Crosby, the one and only David
Crosby, who was there to play a few of his songs with Snarky Puppy.
And then it turned into a jam session.
I mean, not a jam session, just like Terrence Blanchard and Sean Jones and Robin Eubanks
and Eric Harland and Obed Calvit.
They all came up to sit in with Snarky.
It was amazing.
And there's no footage because [A#] I chose to just be fully present and enjoy the evening.
And then I got a few hours of sleep and back to LA.
_ It's 5.30 in the morning.
Got about two and a half hours of sleep, [N] which is certainly better than nothing.
It's very cold in here.
I can't get the heat to work.
It's going to be in the lobby in 15 minutes to head to the airport.

So [A] this is kind of weird [F] because I got the CDs today for the [D#] Guitar Band album.
It's [F] finally an album, a CD or whatever you [A#] want to call it.
It's a CD.
That's what you should call it.
It sounds so good and I really want to enjoy listening to it.
This is kind of like my last moment to enjoy listening to it before it goes out in the world.
And then I pretty much never listen to [E] anything I've done after that.
It came out so good and I want to enjoy listening to it.
But we're playing tonight so I can't listen to it.
I got to shut this off because if I listen to it, [C] then this awful thing happens where
the stuff that I heard and liked is in my head and we're going to play those tunes
and then I'm going to try to or I'm going to either A, want to play those things,
things that I've heard, they're like echoes.
It starts a conversation in the middle of improvising and the conversation is like,
should I play that thing?
Well, it worked last time.
You [N] liked it.
No, don't play that.
That wouldn't be cool.
Now I'm like out of the element.
I'm out of the zone once that happens.
So I can't listen to it.
I already sort of spoiled it a little bit.
