What happens is I have no interest in, and I don't have the ability where we are, [C]
[F#] to
make a lower price instrument.
So [Cm] what you do is you create an [F#] opportunity for people to make inferior [A]
copies, [D#] and you
really keep people that are just learning out of the ability.
So let me hear you play.
[Cm] [D] See how I got off the hook?
[C#] So we have a cool boogie.
What kind of amp do we got [F] there?
An Express?
[C#] Do you know how to use that amp?
Do you need help?
[N]
[E] [D] [A]
[E] [D] [C]
[D]
[G] [Em]
[A#] [F] [E] [D]
[C] [G]
[F#] [A#] [E]
[D] [A] [G]
[N] Yeah.
My
[D#]
trumpet is your tech!
[E] [F]
[D#m] [Gm] My bacon [F#] is your crow destroyer.
I love your music, man.
Guitar, boogie.
I actually don't own a boogie myself.
So [C] what kind of music do you own?
You might before the night's [D#] over.
[N] Normal.
Alright.
On a serious note, I take a lot of things from Yngwie Malmsteen.
Cool.
I'm sure you've heard Yngwie.
Absolutely.
Actually, the first thing I heard Yngwie [F#] play was from the [E] Steeler album, and it was called
Hot on Your Heels.
And it was the first, it's like a [F#] three and a half minute [N] solo that he played.
You guys know that, right?
That's sick.
When I heard that, I was like, what the hell?
[C] Alright, so [Cm]
let's channel some [D#m] Yngwie [F] inspiration.
[B] Okay?
[A] I'm going to show [F#] you something.
This is [A] going to be really cool.
Actually, this is a perfect segue.
[G#] So we were [F#] talking [G#] about modes and E [Cm]
and how to make changes.
[C#] So one of the things [B] that Yngwie does all the time [Cm] is that he plays [F] in the Phrygian mode.
[B] Right?
Okay, I'm taking a jazz lesson.
[E] Just saying that.
We're going through modes right now, so I'm not very That's okay.
This is going to be really [G] easy.
Alright, I'm going to [C#] break it down.
Now, [Gm] Yngwie actually plays in the Phrygian [F] dominant mode, which makes the [C#] five chord
a major, but we're not going to do [E] that.
[N] So, this
Okay, so we'll do this over E.
[G#] So, if you play an [E] E minor chord, that's going to [Em] be major.
We need it to be minus.
Perfect.
That one there, or this one up here, you can do two.
Do you know the bar [F#] chord form for an E?
[E] Come on, kid.
[A] [E] There you go right now.
Alright.
[F#] That's very close.
Do that.
[Em] Second finger.
[Gm] [B]
[Em]
Okay, [F#] so that's the chord, or the lower one is [D] fine.
[N] A normal E minor sound would be like this.
Play the chord for [F#m] me.
Even [E] if you just want to play [F#] [G#] a [F#] power chord version [Em] of this.
Alright, turn up your amps.
This would be a normal minor [Bm] scale.
[E]
[B]
[C#] [Em]
[C] You hear the sound of that, [B] right?
You [G] hear the tonality.
Now watch this.
This is going to be one [G#] note difference.
[A#] Instead of making [E] an F sharp, [F#] like
I'm going to [A] change that F sharp [F] to an E natural.
Now, watch how the total sound of this mode and this [C] feel changes.
This time, [F#] don't play an E minor.
Just [Cm] play like an E [E] power chord.
You hear that heavy sound in that B chord?
Okay, [C] now do like a chunky rhythm.
[F#] Move that chord up a half step.
[Em] [C]
Do like an E [E] natural.
[C] [F#]
[C] [Em]
