[A#] Our father was quite a [E] prolific writer, and all through his life he wrote poetry.
A [A] great amassment of writings, of course, was [B] left over after he passed on.
There seemed to be a beauty within [G#] these writings,
[C#m] and it became a focus to put some of these writings to music.
We are the walking, we [A] are the walking, [A]
we are [B] the walking wounded.
[C#m]
[E] John Carter and I got together, and [E] the idea of the book happened,
and along with Paul [F#] Muldoon, the book Forever Words was produced last year.
And along the way, we said, boy, could you hear such and such sing this?
And obviously the idea for the record and the Forever Words music [A] album was [A#] birthed.
I was lucky enough and [G#] blessed enough that my friend here, John Carter Cash,
has decided to [E] make sure that his father's [F#] unfinished works find a place in the [E] world.
[B] And gold all over [E] the ground.
Dad always [C#m] had notebooks, always [C#] writing.
He had such a diverse creativity.
[A#m] He wrote dirges, he wrote broken [G#]-hearted ballads, he wrote triumphant love songs.
[G] All of these things were part of who he was, and [D#] it comes out in these writings.
I [F#] really tried to feel what [C#] he would have thought about it, and it felt like a collaboration.
I think he'd be proud of it.
I am.
Oh, yes.
