Hello everybody, I'm Nashville guitarist and shrapnel recording artist Johnny Highland
and I'm here today to talk to you about the Empress compressor and
I'll tell you what folks just at the summer name show this year.
I happen to meet the boys
From Empress [G] pedals and I got to tell you what they make a pedal that is just absolutely incredible
And when I got to hear this compressor, I was blown away and had to ask them about it
And actually at the name show we releasing my new signature amp made by [Gm] CEC right here
So we are right next door to each other.
So when I got to hear this compressor, I went man
[G] I have got to hear this and you know
I have a little travel board that I take with me everywhere I go and
I have it set up on this my Emperor set up on this little board.
So I'm going to turn this around
Hopefully to where you guys can see this
So miss can we can get a good shot for you and that's kind of the settings that I like to use
Now, you know what folks the effect is really cool.
There's a great description on the website of how to run it
But for me, those are the tones that I actually like to use
To set mine and I just want to go ahead and play for you and show you just how cool this Empress compressor really is
So for me folks, here's a little [A] bit of the clean tone
[B]
[E]
[D] Oh
[A]
[G#] [C#m] [G#]
[A]
[E] [A]
[B] [D]
[A]
[F#]
[B]
[G] This is the Empress compressor not really set with a whole bunch of compression on it
I've got the ratio set at about 2.1 and
[D#] And I have the knob actually about
Well, it's about three o'clock
[G] But you know what?
It's really I've got the mix knob to where the [C] amp and the compressor are doing kind of the [G] same
They're doing a split there if you will, so if I want more [A] compression I
Can add more of the pedal in and do it that way if I'd like
[D] [A] Which is [G] really great in the studio because sometimes you need that extra bite, you know
[D]
[C] And I actually like that but I don't really like to over [G] squeeze
the thing that I really love about the Empress compressor is that you it can really sound transparent and
Give you a great tone with your amplifier, you know
If you have a great amp like I do you don't really want to change the tone of [D#] the amp
You just want the compressor to enhance your notes and make them clean and make them better
But you don't really want to squeeze the amp tone so far [G] that it's going to just you know, distort your sound
Now the other thing that I've grown to find that I love about the Empress
Compressor is I leave mine on all the time
And when I kick on my dirt pedal here and I've got a jet a redshift pedal here
When I crank that on I'm able [G] to really rock out and do some cool stuff and I'll [A] show you what I mean
[A] [E]
[A] I

There you have it folks, there's the Empress pedal with a
The Empress compressor rather with a little bit of dirt added to it and I'll tell you what it makes the pedal sound so much
Sweeter and so much, you know better and so, you know a compressor and a distortion really
Don't seem to go well together as far as noise is concerned now
I do have an ISP decimator that I run all the time, but I assure you the Empress compressor is actually pretty clean sounding
So I've never really had to worry about gaining the sound too much which the ISP doesn't really gate
Anyway, it just helps take away some of them some of the noise the excess noise
But I've never really had a problem with the Empress compressor in use with distortions.
It's been fantastic
The other thing that I found that I really like about this is is how user-friendly it is, you know
I you know
I'm just so tickled with the with the size the shape of it
The way they have designed the pedal to where you're where you plug your power in, you know and stuff like that
It may sound like simple stuff, but I assure you guys You know
It makes it easier on a pedal board when you can get to your power easily without having to have everything necessarily on the top
So I've been very impressed with how well this pedal is built how you know how well it's made
how user-friendly it is and
I've just really enjoyed checking out this pedal and I intend to leave it on my board for quite some time
So listen, it's been a pleasure bringing this little video to you
I want to thank all the boys and Empress pedals for being so kind to me and blessing me with such an awesome pedal at
The damn show I'm having such a great time with this pedal.
I'm gonna crank up [Gm] the the
Compression just a little more [G] and give you a little more getting on out of here
Look go to your local dealer get yourself an [G] Empress compressor today
[A] [C#m] You tell them Johnny Hymel sense.
You [G] all right.
I bet you they'll treat you right y'all take [A] care and God bless
