[E] [Gb]
[Abm] [E]
[Gb] So we're here [Db] at an Eva [B] today and we're talking [Db] with Johnny Marr and we're gonna [Bb] take a look at what's in your bag
[E] Okay, [D] I've been working on some [F] movie soundtracks
So I've gone back into [Gm] missing to a lot more Tony sort of mid [Bb]
-60s stuff that he was doing in Italy
I've been looking for some stuff and just coming across a [Ab] lot of lounge
Collections which I don't like so anyway the guy [Eb] over here [D] forgotten his name
He very kindly showed me to some of this kind of [Ab] more tripped out
stuff [Gm] so this one is
Crime and [Ab] dissonance
[C] [Ab] [Gm] Which I think he's going to be [Ab] really good.
[E] It's a good [Eb] good title and there's another [B] Morricone
Any on Morricone happening?
[Gbm] [A]
Which [Bm] I'm [G] told is again like a lot of the more kind of darker
[Db]
Moodier [Gbm] and dramatic [Bm] stuff that he did so anyway, [Eb] this is Bernard Herman some more [F] soundtrack he stuff
[Bb]
[G] It's a documentary about [Db] him, you know
For [Ab] a long [Gb] list of famous movies did
[B] nearly all the [Bb] Hitchcock movies and
[B] Taxi driver to [Gbm] so this weird documentary [A]
about [Dbm] Ralph Waldo Emerson
[B] But [Abm] I'm hoping that I find out more [A] about the the [E] transcendentalists
[B] Fascinating [E] subjects.
I like [B] people like [E] this
I [B] like the [A] times the turn of the last century a [E] lot of kind of [B] cultural and
[Dbm] Philosophical and literary sort [Abm] of things that were going on at that time.
[B] I like when he's DH [A] Lawrence
So again, [E] Elvis Huxley or Madame [B] Blavatsky, so I [Abm] really big this up now
It's probably not [E] that good not [Abm] as good as I sort of imagine it
Emerson attained prominence after [F] his bold decision to leave his ministry in 1832 to become a writer
I like philosophy and I like theology can't stand obviously can't stand new age
[Cm] This is an electronic record when I like electronic music, I really like it Bonobo Black Sands
So I wanted to buy it [Fm] and like most people who come into record shops
I blanked out the minute I went through the [F] door and about 10 minutes after being in here [Fm] came on
I recognized the sound of [Cm] it.
[Ab] [Cm] So that was pretty cool.
Very good to the [G] staff there
Oh, yeah, it's a work of Sally Mann right visual artist about a life and a marriage and a family
I have to say it's unfortunate [D] how many of my pictures do depend on some technical [G] error
I mean, it's not something I do to the negatives, but it's on the other [Dm] hand
It's not a negative by tossing the trash bin either, [G] you know, it might be a bit of a surprise
I might learn something [Dm] adult already know I've got [G] this vinyl record [Bm] John McLaughlin my [A] goals beyond which
Might [D] surprise some people [A] I'm not too knocked [Bm] out with the sleeve.
I've got to say I think the original sleeve is a lot better
[Dm] [A] It's not [G] like kind [Dm] of soft jazz or anything like that
[G] It's it's [Am] acoustic [Bm] record and [Am] he's put these first acoustic record [Bm] from the early [D] seventies
I've added [G] on CD for ages and I just [Dm] like the idea of [E] it hearing it sounding [Am] slightly different because obviously vinyls
Got a good sound if it's a good pressing
[E] I just got this documentary called Huxley on Huxley
I have no [Bm] idea how it's been made or [D] where the footage has come from
[C] I'm gonna really like it no matter [Gm] what it is
Humphrey Osmond who was [D] a great chemist [Ab] told Huxley [Eb] about the powers of mescaline [Bb] and
gave him [Dm] some and then
[Eb]
the experience was reported in [Bb] all this is both the [D] doors of
[A] Perception so [B] period in Los Angeles
[Gb] From the early 50s [A] onwards is really fascinating to me.
So [Bm] again a really good [B] documentary for me [E] to watch
Couple [B] of wire records CDs [G] first time I heard wire was when [B] I was in [Abm] I was in school
I heard outdoor [A] minor this single
I
[B] like that they go they put [A] out quite a lot of stuff and you never really quite know what you're gonna
What you're gonna get [E] it's not always great
You know because of the where the group was at particular time and sometimes things don't always date very well
But I find that really interesting
[Dm] This gets [C] greater bands aren't [G] always like classic every [C] time, you know, like I don't know
I just I like that kind [G] of surprise element
I always had a lot of respect for calling him for that for me.
The idea is sticking with the one sound for [C] 20 odd years is
Lazy, [Db] you know another documentary called the biggest flash, [B] which I'm really [Abm] excited about because [B] it's just a classic
Movie [Abm] about Dave [A] Hockney in the late [B] 60s.
I [Gbm] think early [Ab] 70s a bigger splash
David Hockney painter comic genius when [G] he's just going around different houses in London You know
if you just pause it you to sell the streets are completely empty [N] and the odd cars and the houses look kind of different and
and you're looking at them through these
passage of time very evocative and
Kind of inspiring too because I like the work.
So I really like David Hockney, you [F] know, I think about really [Ab] well
So I'll be back to being very [Cm] poor
[Gm] [F] [Ab] To do it
[Cm] [Bb] [F] [Ab] [Cm] [Bb]
[F] [Ab] [Cm]
[Bb] [F] [Ab]
