[G] [Cm] This [B] is a
guitar lesson for Johnny Rivers, Stagger Lee,
from GuitarMadeEasy.com.
This one goes out to Brian.
Brian, you sent me this request,
and [C] this one's for [B] you, buddy.
Starting off, make sure your guitar's in standard E [E] tuning.
[B] And before we do anything, [N] subscribe to my channel
to get the latest and greatest lessons.
This song's great, it's super easy to play, okay?
Anybody can play this song.
All it is is a couple bar chords,
[C] [B] and a little bit of the 12-bar blues.
The song starts off like this, [C] it goes,
[G] [F]
[C] [G]
that's the intro, [Bb] all right?
So what it [B] was was a [C] C major bar chord,
right at the eighth and the 10th fret, all right?
And then we do a G bar chord at [G] the 10th and the 12th fret,
and [F] then an F bar chord, we slide down two frets
to the eighth and the 10th fret,
[C]
and then we go back to that C bar chord.
Now we [Abm] slide all the way down to the [N] third and fifth fret
to make a G7 bar chord, which is basically,
it's like a G major, but we take our pinky off, okay?
[G]
Hear the difference right there?
[N] But the song then [Ab] goes into a very, very simple
[Db] 12-bar blues progression, [F] okay?
It basically is a one, four, [C] five,
which means that C is your one chord,
[F] and then D is your four chord,
[Ebm] and then, [F] I'm sorry, not D, F is your four chord,
[Fm] [G]
and then G is your five chord, [C] back to home,
which is your C, okay?
So when I [Ab] play these chords,
I do this little kind of blues shuffle thing, where I [C] go,
[Ab] which is using a bunch of rock and roll, a bunch of blues,
just a bunch of popular songs in general.
So all you gotta do [G] here is you just basically make
[Ab] a C5 chord, which is your pointer finger
on the eighth [B] fret E string,
and your ring finger on the 10th fret [C] A string,
so that's the root and the fifth of C, all right?
And all [N] we do then is we take our pinky,
we down-strum this chord [C] twice,
and then I take my pinky and I put that
on the 12th fret A string, all right?
Then I take it off, so I go, [Ab] all right?
The next part of the progression,
I go to this F, all right, and I do the same thing.
So [F] pointer finger on the F note right there
on the eighth fret A string,
and then we put our ring finger on the, what's that?
The 10th fret on the D string.
So we have that right [Abm] there,
and we do the same little shuffle, all right?
So my pinky's going to be hitting
the 12th fret on [F] the D string, so it goes.
Okay, [C] then back to C.
[Ab] Now we go to G, so we're on the 10th and [Gb] the 12th fret
on [G] the pointer finger on the 10th fret A string,
ring finger on the 12th fret D string.
[C] Back to C, and
[Fm] then we go and we strum G [G] a couple times.
[C]
[F]
[C]
[G] [C]
[G]
[Ab] Okay, that's the entire song over and over and over again.
Very, very simple to play and very simple to remember, okay?
Okay, here's the two parts that make this song.
When he's going through the chord progression, [C] the C.
[F]
[C]
[G] A, [C]
C, [G] G.
When he's going through that, what you'll hear sometimes
is that [N] when he's on the C, you'll hear this.
You'll [C] hear,
[Ab] okay?
So what he's doing there is he's basically going to a [F] C7.
And what he's doing is if you look [C] at your C minor chord,
and you look at half of [Fm] the chord,
which is [Ab] this half right here,
which is your middle finger on the ninth fret G string,
and then your pointer finger barred
on the eighth fret B and the [C] E string,
that part right there, that's a triad, okay?
That's a [Bm] C triad.
[C] So we have a C major chord, and then if you take your pinky
and you put that on [E] the 11th fret [Bb] B string right here,
[C]
that makes a seventh chord, okay?
So he strums through the triad,
and then he puts his pinky on, and then.
So, strum, up, down.
And then we go [F] to our [C] F, the second part [Ab] of the progression
or the second [B] chord in the [F] progression, I should say.
[N] Now on the F, he basically makes an [Ebm] F bar chord.
And what he does is he [Ab] takes his pinky
and he puts that on the [Abm] 11th fret E string.
[F] So we have.
So.
Okay, so what I did was I just basically put my pinky
on that 11th fret E string, and it gives me that note.
All right?
Gives it kind of a cool bluesy [D] sound, okay?
[Ab] And then we go right [C] back into the C.
[Em] That's [C]
[G] [N] the whole song, all right?

it's like a G major, but we take our pinky off, okay?
[G] _ _ _
Hear the difference right there?
[N] But the song then [Ab] goes into a very, very simple
[Db] 12-bar blues progression, [F] okay?
It basically is a one, four, [C] five,

Then I take it off, so I go, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Ab] all right?
The next part of the progression,
I go to this F, all right, and I do the same thing.
So [F] pointer finger on the _ F note right there
on the eighth fret A string,
and then we put our ring finger on the, _ what's that?
The 10th fret on the D string.
So we have that right [Abm] there,
and we do the same little shuffle, all right?
So my pinky's going to be hitting
the 12th fret on [F] the D string, so it goes. _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ Okay, [C] then back to C. _ _
_ _ _ _ [Ab] Now we go to G, so we're on the 10th and [Gb] the 12th fret
on [G] the pointer finger on the 10th fret A string,
ring finger on the 12th fret D string. _ _ _ _
[C] Back to C, _ and _ _ _
[Fm] then we go and we strum G [G] a couple times. _ _ _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [F] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [C] _ _
_ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ _ [Ab] Okay, that's the entire song over and over and over again.
Very, very simple to play and very simple to remember, okay?
Okay, here's the two parts that make this song.
When he's going through the chord progression, [C] the C.
_ _ _ _ _ _ [F] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ _ [G] A, _ _ [C]
C, _ _ _ [G] G. _
When he's going through that, what you'll hear sometimes
is that [N] when he's on the C, you'll hear this.
You'll [C] hear, _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Ab] okay?
So what he's doing there is he's basically going to a [F] C7.
And what he's doing is if you look [C] at your C minor chord,
and you look at half of [Fm] the chord,
which is [Ab] this half right here,
which is your middle finger on the ninth fret G string,
and then your pointer finger barred
on the eighth fret B and the [C] E string,
that part right there, that's a triad, okay?
That's a [Bm] C triad.
[C] So we have a C major chord, and then if you take your pinky
and you put that on [E] the 11th fret [Bb] B string right here,
_ [C] _
_ that makes a seventh chord, okay?
So he strums through the triad,
_ and then he puts his pinky on, and then. _ _ _ _
So, strum, up, down.
And then we go [F] to our [C] F, the second part [Ab] of the progression
or the second [B] chord in the [F] progression, I should say. _ _ _ _ _
[N] Now on the F, he basically makes an [Ebm] F bar chord.
And what he does is he [Ab] takes his pinky
and he puts that on the [Abm] 11th fret E string.
[F] So we have.
_ _ _ _ _ _ So.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ Okay, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ so _ _ _ _ what I did was I just basically put my pinky
on that 11th fret E string, and it gives me that note.
All right?
_ _ _ Gives it kind of a cool bluesy [D] sound, okay?
[Ab] And then we go right [C] back into the C. _
_ [Em] _ _ _ That's [C] _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ [N] the whole song, all right?
I hope you guys have liked it.
