Hi, welcome back to music moose dot org.
I'm Jeff Weiser and today we're going to work on the Cajun fiddle tune called Jolie Blonde
This is sort of a fast waltz Cajun tune in the key of a and I learned this off of fiddle and Frenchie Burke
Record I used to have back in the early 70s
And I had Dave cabbage play guitar with me on it earlier.
We played the whole song and there's like four parts to it
So we'll get started on the first part here, and I want to play it really slow
And explain a few things to you about it as I go so we'll start out it actually the tune starts on a on a D chord
The fiddle has what I call pickup notes that actually run you into the D chord and it goes like this
[D]
[A] That's your pickup notes that runs you into the D
[D]
[A]
Right there.
I do a little trill [E] I go
[A] And then I slide up with my little pinky, so I
[D]
[A]
[C#m]
[Em] [A] do [E] that trill again, er
[A]
And there's that part where it goes to e [F#] where you have
[E] That's kind of hard for some people so you want to make sure that the palm of your hand is facing
over to your left and
[A] You get your two e's in there [C#] good
[E] It's that you're going
[F#] That's an F sharp
[E] [G#] Into a G sharp
[C#m]
[B] [A] You know there's a trill again
so the whole thing is like
[D]
[A]
[D] [F#] [C#m]
[A]
[D]
[A]
[F#]
[E] [A#m]
[D] [B] Now take that last part again that goes
As you come out of the e back into the a you go back up to the D with your start starter note
[D]
[A]
and [A#] then you close that with a
[F#m]
[E] That's an octave beneath
[B] [Am]
And [G#] then a trill I do [C#] so it goes
[E] [B] [E]
[A]
That's the first part.
I'll play it one more time the whole thing slow
[D]
[A]
[G#m]
[A]
[D]
[A]
[B] [E]
[B] [E]
[A]
And that concludes the first part of Jolie [N] Blonde
