I'll get there in a day or [G] [Cm] two.
[Fm] Besides, we're in a hurry.
all back in Seattle.
I [Ebm] turned around and saw [F] coffee.
They make wonderful [N] coffee, I think.
ago, before you were all born Sorry.
[B] [N] I was introduced to a musician.

I'll get there in a day or [G] _ [Cm] two.
[D] _
[Fm] Besides, we're in a hurry.
[B] Pass me that.
Okay.
_ It's funny, I [F] couldn't talk at all back in Seattle.
_ [G] They gave me some Texas wine [N] this afternoon. _
_ I _ [Ebm] turned around and saw [F] coffee.
I kept looking at it.
They make wonderful [N] coffee, I think.
So, many years ago, before you were all _ born_ Sorry.
[Db] _
[B] [N] I was introduced to a musician.
Some guy came along, I was living in London,
and this guy came along with an LP.
You remember those things, don't you?
It was by a guy called Vangelis Papadenasou.
Oh, yeah.
_ For anybody who doesn't know,
Vangelis is the guy that wrote Jerry's on Fire.
_ _ _ Every four years, that guy is so happy.
The Olympic Games comes, all this money comes out. _
_ _ _ _ [C] So _ [G]
I heard [F] about him, and I [Gm] was sort of like,
how can one [F] person make this great music on keyboards?
[Gb] He was probably the first keyboard player,
[B] the first keyboard.
[N] Then he created this album, and [D] I couldn't believe it.
So I went to [Eb] Paris to meet him.
I [Cm] really wanted to [Eb] find out, who's this guy?
Somebody [N] gave me his phone number,
so I got to Paris, and I went right in and go,
Hello, hello.
Vangelis?
Yes. _ _ _
Hello, hello.
My name is John Anderson,
I'm a singer in a group called Yes.
What's Yes?
I don't know Yes.
_ I'm a singer in a band.
Hello, Mr.
Sisson, come to my place.
So, going to his place in the center of Paris,
[Ab] and I open [Gbm] the door,
and he's standing there, a very big guy with a big black beard,
and a [Ab] caftan all the way to the floor,
[N] and a bow and arrow, he had a big bow.
[F] I was coming out of a quiver here.
_ Hello, Vangelis, how are you?
[Gb] Hello, Johnny, [B] nice to meet you.
So we walk into his apartment,
and [G] he had one of his apartments,
and it [N] had a long hallway,
way down to [B] the main room,
and at the bottom of the main room was a TV,
and next to the TV was his dad,
his father, called Ulysses, of course,
and [N] his dad's watching TV,
and the TV was there, and he was here,
so far away, I couldn't believe it.
She was hiding somewhere.
But anyway, next to the TV was a big bullseye,
like a Target.
He _ said, Hey, Johnny, watch this.
He had a bow and arrow here. _
_ And the arrow went right through the window. _
You could kill somebody with a bow and arrow.
I'm going to win. _
[C] It's not going to happen.
[F] I'm going to win.
It's true story, [Gm] sir.
_ [N] True story.
_ [G] But [C] _ [Dm]
I [Em] eventually got him [B] to come to London
to join the group, yes,
because [Eb] Rick [B] Waveman had left the band,
and I said, Vangelis, it would be perfect for the group.
Perfect.
So he came from Paris to London,
and we had a [Ab] rehearsal together with the band.
He greets everybody, Hello, Chris, nice to meet you.
Hello, Mike, nice to meet you.
I have a drum [F] machine.
Nice to meet you. _
_ [N] Steve's putting on his guitar,
and he says to Steve,
Hey, you know, electric guitar,
not a real instrument, you know. _ _ _
_ I guess.
We're trying to make friends here.
I can't believe you're a band.
So it took a week and then he left.
[Ebm] Oh, yeah.
[F] _
_ [Dm] We became [F] very good [G] friends, you know.
[C] We wrote a lot of songs together.
[G] Mike, we had [F] a big hit record in [G] England,
our first album.
[C] And then we got a lot of money to do our second album.
And so we started doing our second [Fm] album.
We thought it was pretty good.
And [Gb] it was released in England,
but it was a [B] flop.
It didn't really do very [G] well,
because it wasn't a hit [N] single.
And the record company wanted the money back.
And I said, I remember Van Gelder said,
Van Gelder said, we have a problem.
They want the money back.
[B] What money?
The money we have for the record.
[Fm] Oh, I spent that.
I got another Rolls Royce.
[Abm] I got two Rolls Royces.
[Bb] Two Rolls Royces.
_ [F] That's the key one.
[N] We can't get into that.
[Ab] So we went with that 26 Rolls [C] Royces.
That's a fact of [Eb] life.
Crazy guy.
Beautiful guy.
Loved the guy.
But we had a problem.
Van Gelder said, oh, let's do it.
We'll [B] write a hit song.
Come over to my place.
So we went to his studio.
[D] And that afternoon, it was raining,
and we wrote a [C] hit song.
[G] It was a big [D] hit.
The record [F] company was very excited.
[G] They wanted us to go on TV and do [C] the [Gm] BBC,
Top of the Pops.
_ [F] I don't do [N] Top of the Pops.
I'm a serious artist.
_ _ [C] He was [F] recording music for Blade Runner [N] at that time.
_ I'm a serious artist.
I said, look, Van Gelder's thing with the money.
Okay, we'll do it.
[C] [G] I said, we need Top of the [F] Pops.
[G] And look at me.
I'm all mime-y on TV.
I'm still crying.
Tears coming down.
[C] I don't want to be on TV.
[G] _ _
[F] _ _ [G] I'm [C] not that good.
This is so [Gm] big hit.
