[F] Good morning again.
Well, rock [Eb] band Bon Jovi played two [C] shows in Melbourne over
the weekend [Ab] at Etihad Stadium.
The first [Eb] shows on their Australian tour which [Bb] is
pretty much sold out.
In fact, it's [Cm] the biggest tour of 2013 [Ab] despite the absence
[Bb] of lead guitarist Richie Sambora.
It's a kind of a moot [G] point for fans of [Cm] the band.
I had the pleasure of sitting down [Ab] with frontman [Eb] John Bon Jovi on Friday.
[G] [C] [D]
[C] [G]
[D] John, welcome back to Australia.
Thank you, Richard.
I've lost count of the
number of times you've been here [G] or the number of tickets you must have sold, but
it's got to be some kind of record.
The biggest tour of the year?
Thank Jesus.
[Ab] How does that sit with you?
It sits very nicely, you know.
It's amazing when you
get to have little mementos.
When you look back and see on the 30th anniversary
of the band you're going to be the biggest [Db] tour on the planet.
Who would
have thought, you know.
So I feel really, really [Gb] blessed.
[Db]
[Gb] [Ab]
The biggest challenge is of course, you know, [Db] Richie.
Let's talk about the
elephant in the room.
I spoke to him a little while back.
I don't know if you saw it.
Yeah, I saw it.
I went out for the first leg of the tour.
I had no idea this was
going to happen and I just started spending time with my kid between legs
and my spirit wouldn't pull myself out of the door.
I just needed to be home.
What did you [F] think?
You know, I've only ever said the same thing.
It was personal
issues, right?
That he was never fired [B] and as he finally admitted on television
there was never a fight.
[F] He just didn't show up and we've been
talking a little bit.
You got to go to work, Rich.
If you don't go to [Ebm] work
The popular consensus was that, you know, the ultimate showman, the complete pro, the
benevolent dictator was sort of at odds with the party boy.
Is that close to it?
In as much as I went to work, you know, and like I said, you know, what he's
gonna admit to you is, [Ab] I've only ever stuck to the [Em]
very clearly [Fm] personal
issues.
He can tell you as [Am] much as you want.
Were you concerned that Richie's
absence could affect business?
You know, absolutely.
He didn't do it to hurt me.
He didn't do it [Ab] to hurt David or Tico.
He did it [Em] for personal reasons, but [B] that
doesn't [C] stop the rest of the machine from rolling and [A] fortunately the [E] fans
all realized that and [F] supported us [E] throughout.
He'll be [A] back, you think?
Maybe?
[E] He's not been fired.
I've [G] only ever said [Db] the same thing.
[Gb] [B] [Db] Singing
[Ebm] with the Royals, [Fm] you, Taylor Swift and Prince William.
Prince, I'd known that
he'd sung the song karaoke style or, you know, you read the papers and this and
that and so [Ab] he was fantastic and he was a great sport and [Gb] he jumped up on stage
and [C]
didn't even [Fm] hesitate.
Knew all the words [Bb] in seconds.
Tell me about that
feeling when you walk out on stage and hit those opening chords and the fans [Ab] go
nuts.
You'd be surprised it's not that kind of, here I am, it's definitely not
that.
It's that moment of the checks and balances, everything that goes
into walking up those stairs.
[Gb] [Ab]
How important is it to up yourself and also
top what everyone else is doing?
You know, the Stones are doing this.
Wow, you two
are doing that.
[Bb] Unfortunately, I grew up in an era where I was watching both the
Stones and the U2 kinds of productions, so you wanted to, when you could
afford to, compete in that kind of [Eb] a way and in truth I've gotten past that stage
and I thought the catalog [Bb] of music does speak pretty loud.
Yeah, it's an amazing
stage set.
They've got just five more shows to go on the tour.
It's a front of
[N] a Buick car.
They call it Sophia.
I said to John, what are you going to do with the
stage at the end of the tour?
He said probably sell it for scrap metal.
Brisbane's the last show, so you might be able to pick up some Bon Jovi stuff
there.
The tour continues to Adelaide on Wednesday night and as I said, just
five shows to go on the world tour, all of them here in Australia.

suggest you grab some tickets from Ticketek very shortly.
You've seen Keith in concert?
[A] I have and he's brilliant.
Brilliant is the word.
You [Em] guys have got to thank Keith, don't you?
I just think he's a lovely guy.
I just think he's a
real gentleman and I'm so happy for Nicole that those two are so happy.
They're a great couple.
They're good people.
They're a family of overachievers.
And they are both [N] cracking swords, just to get that point across.
From a metrosexual perspective, they're cracking swords.
