[G] This next song I'm going to play is about one of these pop festivals that they've been having around the world lately.
It's one that I didn't really get to go to.
I'd been playing the night before in Chicago with a band, friends of mine,.
Crosby, [Abm] Stills, Nash, Young, etc.
,.
[G] etc.
And [Am] it was their first [C] professional appearance and we were all kind of excited about it.
And the next night we were [Abm] supposed to all play in [A] Woodstock and I had to do a TV show [E] the next day,.
so I kind of got left behind because they were having problems getting people [Ab] in and getting them back out again and everything.
So I stayed home in New York and I [D] watched it on television all day and saw everybody there playing and [E] singing.
And it was really a nice festival, I guess, from the looks of [A] everything.
Well, [D] I wrote a little song for my [B] friends to [E] sing and for myself to [G] sing as well.
And it's called Woodstock.
It goes like this.
[Ab] [Eb] .
[Ebm] [Ab] [Ebm] .
[Abm] [Ab] [Ebm] .
[Bbm] [Eb] [Abm] .
[Db] [Ab] [Bbm] [Eb] .
[Ebm] [Bbm] .
[Eb] .
[Ebm] .
[Ebm] [Eb] [Ebm] .
.
[Bbm] [Eb] .
I [Ebm] [Db] came upon [Eb] a [Bbm] child of God.
He [Ab] was walking [Eb] along the road.
[Ebm] And I asked him, I said, [Ab] where are you going?.
And [Ebm] this he told [Eb] .
me.
[Ebm] I'm going on [Db] [Eb] down to [Db] Yasga's farm.
[Ab] Gonna join [Ebm] in a rock and roll.
[Eb] And [Ebm] I'm gonna camp out on [Ab] the [Ebm] land.
I'm gonna try and get my [Eb] soul .
We [Ab] are stardust.
[Abm] We are gold.
[Ab] .
And we [Ebm] got to get .
[Db] [Ab] ourselves back [Ebm] to the .
[Ab] [Eb] [Ebm] garden .
[Eb] Well, [Ebm] and can [Db] I [Eb] walk beside [Db] you?.
[Eb] [Ab] I have come here [Ebm] to lose the [Ab] smog.
And [Eb] I feel [Gb] to [Ab] be a cog [Ebm] in something .
[Eb] turning.
[Ebm] Well, [Eb] and maybe [Bbm] it [Ebm] is the [Bbm] time of [Eb] year.
[Ab] Or maybe [Gb] it's the [Ab] time of man, I don't know.
[Eb] I know [Gb] .
[Eb] life is [Ebm] for [Eb] learning.
We [Ab] are stardust.
We [Abm] are gold.
[Ab] [Bb] And [Ebm] we got to get [Ab] ourselves back [Ebm] to the .
[Eb] [Ebm] garden .
[Eb] By [Ebm] the time [Bbm] we [Eb] got to Woodstock.
[Ab] We were half a million, strong and everywhere.
There was [Ebm] song and [Ab] a [Ebm] celebration .
[Eb] [Ebm] [Db] And [Eb] I dreamed, [Bbm] I [Ebm] saw the [Bbm] bombers.
[Ab] Riding shotgun [Eb] in the [Ab] sky.
And were turning into butterflies above [Ebm] our nation .
[Eb] We [Ab] are stardust .
Billion-year-old carbon.
We [Eb] are gold.
[Gb] [Ab] .
Caught in the devil's [Eb] bargain.
And we got [Ebm] to get [Ab] ourselves [Gb] back to the [Ebm] [Abm] garden.
[Eb] [Gb] [Ab] .
[Eb] .
[Ebm] [Eb] .
[Bb] .
