[F#] It tends, I think, this album to be just a bit more serious and kind of it's more about
life sort of struggles and things that, you know, I've seen that I don't like
myself.

_ [F#] _ _ _ _ It tends, I think, this album to be just a bit more serious and kind of it's more about
just real life sort of struggles and _ things that, you know, I've seen that I don't like
or, you know, things I don't like about myself.
[B] _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
[C#m] _ _ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _
_ [F#] _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
_ [F#] _ _ _ _ _ Probably _ _ _ the biggest reason it took [F#m] so long was because my [C#m] wife and I started having children.
So _
[B] _ about six years ago, [Bm] we started.
So we had twins, [F] a boy [F#m] and a girl, and then _ _ we had two more [C#m] girls.
And so now we have [E] four children in the [G] last six years.
And _ it's [D] been a roller coaster ride, you [F#m] know.
We've been together since [C#m] we were 16.
_ It's got [Bm] history.
_ It's got nothing on me.
_ _ You know, when I come off the road, because [C#] I'm always playing concerts, _ [D#] it's hard to
come home and say, OK, well, [C#] Daddy's leaving again to go make an album.
[F#m] _ _ _ _ _ [Bm] _ _

[F#] _ _ _ _ [B] _ _ _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _
_ [C#] _ _ Yeah, having children has definitely [C] just changed [G] me in general and therefore, I think,
[Bm] has changed any [G#] songs I [F#] might write.
You tend to, [Bm] I think, just look at [E] the world in a different way and [D] look at yourself in
a different [D] way.
And it [B] affects everything.
So [F#m] I think maybe _ if it affected anything, I think, _ about [F#] this album, it was just the
way I approached the lyrics and sort of the _
_ [D] messages, if you will, [C#] of the songs.
I had a light, a wayfaring soul, [F#m] and this [E] hope that I've been [F#m] holding is near to [Bm] me. _ _
_ [A] All I had on him was [D] a story to tell, [Bm] about his own personal hell.
But then my [C#] friend from prison Sally said_
It felt like, _ [F#m] I have to do this, [Bm] _ I have to do an album where I'm not holding back any
of that, just sort of [F#m] put these songs, _ even if they're really different.
_ [A] Step right, step right, [G#] step right, [F#m] step right.
Next [C#] time I heard the [B] ground underneath [F#m] shaking, [E] the urges [F#m] started breaking.
All [Bm] around us, hey, [B] hey.
Show your heart, show us hand, you never had a story to tell.
[Em] Well, you're not alone. _ _ _ _
_ [B] _ We fell apart, sing and sing.
Life is [D] hard, understand.
[E] I got one of my [Em] own, I got one of my own.
I got one of my own.
[B]
Well, some of these songs have been _ _ _ _ bouncing [E] around in the back of my mind for years and
[Em] just sort of existing [C#] without lyrics [D] or partially done [B] songs for a long time.
[F#] _ _ _ And most of the reason for [Em] that is because I think a lot of the songs I write aren't
[G] probably what somebody might [D#] expect _ _ [G] of a typical album [D] _ _ [D#m] put out [G] by me.
And [B] so _ I've been a little afraid to do it just because I [C#] know there's some people out
there [E] who want a guitar solo every 30 seconds.
_ [B] The world keeps spinning round, [E] the sun goes down and still [A] we're sleeping [C#m] in this bed [C] we made.
[B] Tonight I dream again [E] and in my dream I see in you, [A] no shame, we [C#m] are the [C] same.
_ [Bm] _ _ _ _ _ [F#] I think 15 years ago [E] or something like that, somebody introduced me [F#] to Tommy Sims music.
It was the first time I had heard [F#m] of him _ and [C#] it was his solo record, [Bm] Peace and Love. _
And [F#] this record just changed my [E] outlook on music really.
So [D#] I've gotten to know [G] Tommy over the years and [F#m] write with him.
I never got to make a record [B] with him until now.
And so [Bm] _ _ [F#m] _ _
_ it was a dream come true [B] really being able to make this album with him.
_ I've gotta fight for my [Bm] soul, _ [E] for [F#m] my soul, I've gotta fight for [Bm] my soul.
[B] I don't wanna give it [F#] away no more.
[F#m] And Tommy really [Bm] helped me with that because there was a couple [E] songs that I was like,
[A] no, we're not putting this on the [E] record.
_ [F#m] _
[Bm] He made me do it basically.
And so [Em] I'm glad.
_ [F#m] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _
_ _ [Bm] _ _ _ _ _ _
[F#] Yeah, yeah, _ [E] _ yeah. _
