[C#] I guess must have inspired me and I realized I [G#m] had never written a song about Colorado.
A lot of things that [C#] maybe were inspired by [N] Colorado but that you wouldn't know were about Colorado.
So here's my Colorado song called The Blizzard.
[C#]
[G#] Colorado, [F#]
Colorado, [C#] [F#]
[C#] when the world [F#] leaves you shivering
[C#] and the blizzard [D#] [G#] blows,
when [C#] the snow
[F#] flies and the [C#] night [F#] falls, [C#] there's a light in [F#] the window
[C#] and a place [G#] called home [F#] at the end of the [A#m] storm.
[F#]
[A#m]
[F#]
[A#m] One night on the mountain I [F#] was headed for Estes [D#m] when the roads turned to [G#] ice and it started to snow.
[A#m]
Put on the chains in [F#] a whirl [D#m] of [A#m] white powder, [D#m]
halfway up to Burset near a diner [G#] I know.
And [C#] the lights burned in sight shining
[F#] down through the snowfall.
[B] Got yours cold [A#m] and the temperature [F#] dropping.
[C#]
Went in for coffee and [F#] I shivered as I drank it.
[B] Warm in my [A#m] hands in the steam as it rose.
[F#]
[A#m]
[F#]
[A#m] Sitting there at the counter [F#] was a dark-headed stranger,
[D#m] me and the owner [Fm] and him keeping warm.
[A#m] Nodded hello and [F#] I said it's a cold [D#m] one.
Looks like it might be a blizzard tonight.
[C#] And yes said the owner [F#] there's a big storm on the mountain.
[B] Good thing we're [F#] open we [A#m] could be here for [F#] [C#] hours, nothing for miles.
[F#] And it's too late to get to Denver, [B]
better not [A#m] try for the summit [F#] tonight.
[C#]
And the [A#] snow [G#] fell [F#]
and the [C#] night [F#] passed [C#]
and I talked [F#] to the strangers [C#]
while the [G#] blizzard blew.
[A#m]
[F#]
[A#m] [F#]
[A#m] Me and the stranger, you [F#] know I don't talk to strangers.
[D#m] I'm a private sort of person [Fm] but a blizzard is a blizzard.
And [A#m] somehow I found [F#] myself saying you'd left me, [D#m] telling him everything I wanted [G#] to say to you.
[C#] You know how it is when you [F#] can talk to a stranger, [B] someone you know [A#m] that you'll never [F#] see [C#] again.
Soon we're [F#]
drinking, [B] he said you must [A#] know you're [G#] too good for [C#]
him.
And the [A#] snow fell [F#]
and the [C#] night passed [F#] [C#]
[F#] and I [C#] talked [F#] to a stranger [C#]
while the blizzard blew.
[G#] [A#m]
[F#]
[A#m]
[F#]
[A#m] Stranger said love it [F#] can cry you a river.
[D#m] Me I'm a loner [G#] and I can't take the heartache.
[A#m] And sometimes I'm a fighter [F#] when I drink too much whiskey.
[D#m] Here have a little whiskey, [G#] pretend you don't give a [C#] damn.
Up here [F#] on the side of the mountain [B] you can go up [A#m] there and sleep.
[F#] Through the blizzard [C#] I put on my partner, [F#] said goodbye to the owner.
[B]
Follow the stranger [A#m] through the snow [F#] up the mountain.
[C#]
[G#]
[F#]
[C#]
[F#] [C#]
[F#]
[C#]
[F#] [A#m] [G#]
[A#m]
[F#]
[A#m]
[F#]
[A#m] Woke in the morning to [F#] the sun on the [D#m] snow.
My car was buried [Fm] in six feet of snow drifts.
[A#m] The stranger dug me out, [F#] just him and the owner.
[D#m] Sent me on my way when the snow cloud had been by.
[C#] And the roads were all clear and [F#] the sun on the mountain [B]
sparkled like diamonds [A#m] on the peak to [F#] peak highway.
[C#] Then [F#] that I would get over [B] you, knew you could leave me [A#] but you'd [G#] never [C#] break me.
[Fm] Colorado, [G#] [F#]
[C#]
[F#] [C#]
Colorado, when the world [F#] leaves you shivery [G#]
[C#] and the blizzard [G#]
[C#] blows.
When the snow [G#] flies [F#]
and the [C#] night
[F#] falls.
[C#]
There's a light, [F#] a window [C#] and a place [A#] called [G#] home [F#]
at the end of [A#m] the story.
[F#]
[C#]
[C#m]
[N] I was always passionate about music.
