Start Jamming...
In 1961, two young girls moved from the Philippines to California with their family.
That's me on the left.
I'm June Millington.
My father was in the U.S. Navy.
He and my mother met, fell in love, and married in Manila just after World War II.
By [Dbm] 1965, we'd formed our first all-girl band in Sacramento and had a [N] dream.
We wanted to go to Hollywood to record.
And by 1969, we were there with a record [D] contract.
The band was called Fanny.
We had to prove that girls could play like guys,
[C] when really what made us happy was just playing.
[C] [F] And we were [Eb] good.
We were on The Tonight Show, Sunday Night Share, Midnight Special,
[A] played at the Whiskey and Go-Go, toured all over [C] the U.S. and Europe,
and recorded at the Beatles' Apple Studio in [Dm] London.
You can't talk to [B] me.
You can't [Gm] talk to me.
[Em]
You can't talk [G] to me.
If you're numb, then you can talk to me.
[Ab] [Dm] [D]
[Am] [D] [Am]
[Db] Come [E] on and rock the world.
[B] If they tell you you can't do it, [A] you just turn it up and play like a girl.
[E] [D] Come on and rock the world.
[B] If they tell you you can't [A] do it, you just turn it up and [B] play.
If they tell you you can't do it, you [A] [B] just turn
[Em] [E] it up and [Em]
[A] play like [E] [Em]
[A] [Em] a girl.
If they tell you you can't do it, you just turn it up and play like a girl.
Welcome [A] to the Mothership.
This is Studio A at IMA where you just saw the girls,
and where you saw me play the guitar solo to play like a girl.
Do we know how to have fun, or what?
[C] [D] [Bm]
[Gb] I'll show you how to walk the dog.
[A] [D] [A] [E]
[Em]
[A] [Em] [B]
[A] [Em] [E]
Hey, what's that sound?
Keep [Bb] your engines running, we're just messing around.
Come on!
[E]
Come on and rock the world.
[B] If they tell you you can't do it, you just turn [G] it up and play like a girl.
[E] Four little fish swimming under the sea.
One [A] to two another, let's go surfing upstream.
Come on!
Come on and rock the [Em] world.
[B] If they tell you you can't do [E] it, you just turn it up and play like a girl.
You can take it to the beach, you can take it to bed.
Take the words of [D] music you've been playing in your head.
[Am] Come on!
Come [E] on and rock the world.
[B] If they tell you you can't [A] do it, you just turn it up and [B] play.
Tell her you can't do it, you just turn it up and play.
Tell her you [A] can't do it, you just [B] turn it up and play like a [Bb] girl.
[E] [Ab]
[Gb] [E] Don't tell us we can't play like girls.
[A] Come on and rock the world.
[D] [B] If they tell you you can't [A] do it, you just turn
[E] [Em] it up and play.
Four little fish swimming under the sea.
One to two another, let's go surfing upstream.

Come on and rock the world.
If they tell you you can't do it, [B] you just turn it up and play.
