It was the most beautiful house.

to a big star of the musical theatre.
And it was a very theatrical, sort of thespian place.
But it was very old.
It went [Gbm] back to the mid-70s.

and the [Gb] tent, and the [Ab] most wonderful courtyard
[Gbm] you can make a [F] dramatic entrance [Bb] into.
_ _ And _ _ [Db] it had this sort of [Ebm] hall of a [F] lounge
with a minstrel's gallery _ and a big fireplace.
_ _ It was really [Bb] quite impressive.
_ _ _ And when my girlfriend and I [Ab] first moved there,
we moved from [N] a bed-sitting room. _ _
[Bbm] And we got a mortgage _ [Bb] _ _
and bought this place.
And we just lived in _ _ _ [F] the bedroom.
_ [Bbm] _ _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _
_ _ But [F] it was wonderful.
It was time to change my [Eb] life.
So, [Abm] _ _ [Bbm] much to the distress of [F] my family,
[Abm] so I decided to [E] pack up and _ [Db] even_
Things had to be completely different.
I moved into an [A] apartment in France.
[Gm] _ _ _ _
[A] And I met my [G] _ _ boarding partner, Alberto.
[Gm] _ _ [Gbm] And a lot of great musicians who lived _ along that _ Mediterranean,
along [Bb] the _ _ [Gbm] _ _
[G] French and [Bb] Italian coast there.
Because [C] a lot of the Italian _ and French [Bbm] rock and rollers,
they [B] like American and British [D] musicians.
Because _ American and British _ _ [Eb] musicians_
_ _ [G] _ _ And [Bb] _ _
_ [A] _ _ _ _ so I met some great [Eb] musicians
who are still great [F] friends now.
But this place was still too big.
So now I live in a one-bedroom [Ebm] _ [N] flat _
in the most beautiful part of the world, _
_ with another little flat around the [Gb] corner
for my [Fm] guitars and keyboards. _ _ _ _
_ [Ab] _ _ And _ _ _

But in all those years,
I [Db] was traveling so much on the road to the movies,
I just decided to keep [Bb] moving. _ _

[Bb] _ as well as west.
[N] And I met some people that I believe will _ be_
[G] _ I sincerely hope will be in [Gm] each other's lives forever.

I suppose it's finished really.
