Justin Townes Earle - What's In My Bag? chords
Start Jamming...
[A] One, two, [D] one, two,
[A] [Gbm] [D]
three.
This is Justin Towns-Earl.
We're at [A] Amoeba Records.
And [D] this is what's in my bag.
Well, when John Henry died, he lay looking at the [A] sun.
He said, Lord.
The [Dbm] first thing is the best of NRBQ, Peek-A-Boo.
I got a rocket in my pocket to roll my wall.
Greatest [Gm] bar band that's [B] ever walked the face of the earth
and possibly one of the greatest [Fm] bands [C] that's ever
walked the face of the earth and [Db] one of the most
unappreciated bands that's ever walked the face of the earth.
This is their greatest.
And I think it's 1969 [Fm] to 1989, which is a pretty good span
for a band, [N] not to mention that they're still around.
Next, I got a Dr.
John's [G] Gumbo.
Down the road, from a dark road by the [C] road.
[G]
[B] Because [C] it has a wonderful version of Junko [G] Partner on it,
which is one of my favorite Junkie songs.
And I do like [D] Junkie songs.
[Bb] The next two, I guess I can do together,
because they're both the Staples singers.
Oh, I know [G] I've been changed.
Not only because they're one of my favorite singing [Gb] groups,
but also because Mavis Staples is the sexiest [N] woman that's
ever walked the face of the earth, without question.
And Pops plays a hell of a great tremolo guitar,
[Bb] an always tremolo guitar, I do [C] believe.
Don [G] Covey.
The Rolling Stones would not exist without Don Covey.
[Bm]
[Gbm]
[G] And I believe that wholeheartedly.
[Bm] If you get his early stuff, it gives [D] Nick away.
[E] And Keith.
[Gbm] [E]
Magic Sam, West Side Soul.
[B] Like who that same [Ab] old [A] place, sweet home [E] Chicago.
[A] [B] Chicago Man.
[Gb] I do [E] believe he was shot in [Bm] the streets by a jealous lover,
which makes him cool [D] in my book in any [Em] [Db] case, period.
But [E] one of my favorite blues records,
[Gb] I got this from a guy named Eric [C] Amble
[E] when I was about 17 years old.
And I've been searching for a copy of it ever since.
And I found it here.
[Bm] Imagine that.
[F] The Roger Miller [Bb] Genius Box Set.
Man [Eb] of means, by no [F] means.
[D] King of the road.
[Bb] One of my favorite songwriters of all [Eb] time.
A very strange man.
Known [Cm] for [Bb]
really fantastic speed benches
[N] that led to wonderful, wonderful kind of crazy lyrics.
[C] And I'd say last, but definitely [Eb] not least,
[Dbm] I've never seen this on vinyl.
So this made me absolutely excited like a schoolgirl
when I saw this.
This is Roscoe Holcomb's High Lonesome Sound.
Chicago.
[Em] Chicago.
He was the absolutely the [C] greatest claw hammer, period,
banjo player I've ever heard.
[G]
[C] One of the most amazing things is
he claw hammered the banjo with finger picks on,
which I've never heard anybody do.
Fastest claw hammer player I've ever heard
and has the highest voice I've ever heard.
Him and Ralph Stanley could have a battle,
but I think [Bb] Roscoe might [Em] win.
[G] I do believe.
That was quick, but [Em] that's what's in my bag.
[D] [G]
[Em] [Bb] [D] [G]
[D] Bebop.
[Em] [N]
