[Fm] When she was young, her mum described her as being handsome, and for [C] her ninth birthday, her dad bought her a [Eb] motorbike.
Joining the Ozonte Day [Db] for a spot of light [C] lunch is Canadian [Ab] songstress, KD Lang.
[Cm] She's lit, actually.
[Bbm] This [Fm] is my daughter.
[Cm] Hi, I'm Jane.
[Ab] Here we are, KD.
[Db]
Lovely to meet you.
As you [Fm] can see, we put a spread on you.
A spread.
A vegetarian [Ab] cornucopia.
But [Bb] you've already eaten, haven't you?
[Bbm] Yeah, I have.
I'm sorry, I wouldn't know who [Db] I knew.
[Ab] [Fm]
[Gb] [Db]
[Fm] I've been a vegetarian for 15 years, and [Ab] it's been a lifelong [Db]
passion to care [Ab] for animals and to protect them.
You grew up in [N] a farming community.
Was it like Little House on the Prairie?
[Eb] I suppose it is.
I suppose [C] it's [Ab] similar to Little House on the Prairie.
Not quite so [Db] puritanical.
[G] Your mum described [Eb] you as being handsome when you were young.
What did you think of that?
[F] Well, [Db] I didn't think much of it when I was younger, but now I appreciate it [Em] because, [N] obviously, I'm kind of an androgynous figure, which is [Db] kind of a tired old word.
[F] But I [N] appreciated it, that she didn't force me into this stereotypical female [G] sensibility.
[E] [G]
For me, I always see you as a very confident [N] and outgoing type of person who wants to set an example for what they believe in.
Is there ever a moment where you're really shy and you just think, oh, yeah, I'm insecure [E] every day.
[C] I mean, I wake up in the middle of the night totally freaked out [Ab] that the record's going to fail.
I mean, especially right now, [Em] I think, is the most vulnerable period.
When you've been locked up in the studio for a [C] year, you've been [N] concentrating on the music.
You don't care what you [Ab] look like because it's all a matter about what the [E] record's like.
And [Abm] then all of a sudden you're in front of the camera and you're doing photo shoots and people are criticizing [E] your work, criticizing your look.
And it's scary, you [A] know.
[Gbm] [Gb]
[Dbm] [Gbm] [B] So your new [E] album's called All You Can Eat.
What do you mean by that?
For me, it's [Bb] just being saturated with [C]
show [Ab] business and fame and [A] life in [Ab] general.
[Eb] It's a [Fm] smorgasbord and you get to decide [G]
what [F] you're going to ingest [N] and take in.
If you make [D] yourself sick, it's kind of your decision.
[A] Did you make [Em] yourself sick with all of that?
I kind of did.
[N] I [F] came close.
I went [Gm] into it.
I think [Db] I had to [N] experience it to know I didn't really fit in with [Cm] the whole celebrity [Bb] thing.
[Gm]
[Bb] It [Gm]
was really lovely to meet you.
Thank you.
Thanks very much, guys.
Next time I'll eat.
