K.T. Oslin Interview | Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame chords
Start Jamming...
We'll start here at KT.
KT Oslin, a new [C] member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
I like how that sounds.
How about you?
You know, when I came to [Bb] this town, that was the first thing I heard, I think, out of people's lips as a writer.
[F] What about the, you know
I never thought I would be here, [Bb] but here I am.
I [Cm] remember seeing you [Eb] stand on stage at the CMA Awards and accepting awards.
[A] You know, so many things throughout your career that [Eb] made a big part [G] of my career.
[Bb] Oh, that's cool.
That's very good.
[Eb] The [Bb] women helped me a great deal in my career.
[C] They heard the music and they [N] got it.
They kind of got it before the [Eb] men got it.
And [C] lots of women at radio stations and things said,
Hey, you need to play this, you need to hear this, [Dm] and play it, and get behind it.
And [Eb] that's our hearts, you know.
[F] Women [Eb] ironing and baking and cooking and listening to my music at the same [Gm] time.
Heck, that's Beatles stuff, you [F] know.
That's being a [C] Beatle.
I can't not bring this up because just last week I was at the Country Music Hall of Fame for the Inductions.
And Dottie West, of course, going in as a member.
[G]
I [Eb] recall you had a cut by Dottie West.
I did.
Way back in the beginning she did [Bb] a cut.
What did she [Cm] do?
It was, [D] Where's the Woman to Go, I think.
What was [Gm] it like to hear her voice?
Oh, [G] it was, you know, you go, Gee whiz, I must be dreaming this [Fm] can't be happening.
[N]
Are they really playing and she's singing it and I wrote it and here we stand.
Yeah, it's all great.
It's what it should be.
[Bb] One last thing, KT, and I'll let you go because I know everybody's wanting to talk to you here tonight.
Can you kind of sum up what [Eb] it's like to be here and be honored by [Bb] fellow songwriters?
That's the best.
That's the best part.
[C] These people do what you do, [Ab] do what I do.
[A] And therefore to take [Bb] any kind of acknowledgement from them is [N] very heavy.
You know, we think you're good.
We think this is good.
You go, well, yeah, [Bb] they should know.
They do this [D] themselves.
It's just a great [Eb] moment.
[F] We're all excited for you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
