Well, [F] we just put out an incredible record not that [C] long ago, [F] you have to go get it.
And one of the really cool things that we got to [Bb] do, one of the first projects [Ab] that we got to do [Abm] as a couple,
[Cm] was [B] basically, long story short, take this Johnny [E] Cash poem.
We got [Gb] asked [B] by Johnny's son [E] [C] to put music to one of his [E] dad's unreleased, not ever [B] singing, poems.
[E] And so that was one of the first [B] things that we got to do together.
And [Bb] it was [Am] really cool because I put [G] guitar music to this poem when I was [E] 16.
And I was like a super romantic teenager.
I was like, I'm going to find my woman.
[B] [E] We
[G] finished writing the song together and we like absolutely fucking [E] ruined it.
And it came out and it's a poem [Em] that Johnny wrote to Jane [E] in 1970.
She was [Ebm] like eight months pregnant with [E] John Carter, their son.
And Kyle over here, he played banjo on the track and it got released on this amazing record that like Alison Krauss and [D] a bunch of people [E] have.

[E] Brave sun [Dbm] rose, lightning hot
[A] And singing clouded its [B] way
[Dbm] Late witnessed the [Abm] strife

[A] Grandfather reached [B] wind blew
[Dbm] Mist froze on [B] the tree limb
[E] [A] While I rose ahead [B] of you
And [A] I made the morning [E] [B] call

He [A] said good [B] morning [E] to you
Then [A] I sat beside [B] you there
