So I was very curious because we're about to do Audey Jaadey,
so you're in Australia, my first time, and being a [E] Nepali musician in Australia [Eb] and then
you know [Gb] like to have you know all that you know that portfolio [Fm] that you [E] had of music,
I mean to be here a Nepali musician you know in a foreign land, how's that experience been for you?
Like when I first started, it's like music wasn't, I never thought I took it as a profession,
it's a hobby, still is a hobby.
[N] When I went back in 2004 or 5 to do the first album,
even before that I was playing here, I was playing with the local band and all.
So, I used to play drums for them, so I used to like do back in,
back in, back of band, I used to be in a back of band, so like it didn't just happen straight away
overnight, I did like struggle, I had to struggle as well, and like after Nepal, I still continue,
I still like continue music like at Kwanmabai studio, so I still like play, but I just,
the thing about me is I play for myself, I can't like publish, I don't like do that much,
I think I should, like we're hoping to like come up with a few songs this year in 2023,
fingers [Eb] crossed.
We're waiting for it.
Yeah, yeah.
So, [Gb] Audey Jaadey is the name of the [B] title and you
wrote it and you thought by it the own vibe, but I'll just say that the song never went away,
for us it's always stayed back, [Ab] that's something [F] that you know we still love to this day.
So,
the story [Gb] about how the song came to be,
[E] that inspired you to [N] write that song?
Sure, it's been like 20 years, I wrote that song in 2003,
we're in 2023, right, 20 years, yeah, like this place is called Alexandria, I wrote the song like
10 minutes away from here in Darlinghurst, 20 years ago at night, like around three in the
morning, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't sleep and when I can't sleep, I just go and strum my guitar
or piano and that's when like the song came to me, melody, and I didn't have any words and I just
thought like, okay, I've got this melody, I can make a song, but I don't have any lyrics, so at
the time I asked my friend like Mia, she's from Japan and she sort of like decided, okay, I'm
gonna write some words for you and she gave me the words, I didn't know what it meant, but still I
just thought of like writing it down, like making a song and he threw a song I had in my pocket,
but eventually what happened was like, when Nepal Zainab, I wanted to, so like, my dad kind of
pushed me, he pushed me, so like, he knows like I am very much into music, but like I said, it's
just my hobby, but I never wanted to like go out there in public or become a celebrity or anything
like that, but my dad, he just kept telling me, okay, why don't you go to the studio, have it
recorded, have a song recorded, because I know you love music so much, you know, and he booked
studio time with James Day and he, initially we wanted to, like I wanted to like sing a song
by James Redonda because at the time, like, he used to be, he used to write every song, like for
everyone and I just like, I don't have any song, I'll just go and sing one of his songs and make
my parents happy, but when we went to meet James Day, he said like, oh, sorry, I don't have any
songs, but if you have anything, we can perhaps work on it, and he had that song in my pocket,
played to him, it was in Japanese, he didn't know a single word, I didn't like what he was singing
and he loved the, like music, he loved the composition and everything and he said like,
okay, why don't I convert into, like, I will write the song in Nepali, Nepali, you know,
and that's how it [C] became, [F] yeah.
Well, that's a beautiful story,
[Eb] well, you know, we're all [N] happy that happened.
Yeah, thanks to my dad.
Definitely.
