You were talking earlier about the still small voice of calm you can't get that much of it in your life
Now and again when I come back home
It's it's obviously my life is very hectic, but I always find that when I do come come back to Wales
It's really nice to relax and get some peace and quiet like this
I try to balance my my work life and and everything that I enjoy, you know, I get the say in in what I want to do
But I also make sure that I do get you know time with my family and friends and I think that's really the most important
Thing you know, I want to come out of out of all of this being the same person that I was at the start
You grew up here in Neath the great trauma of your childhood was the death of your father.
Yeah
What was that like at the time?
Well, I was 15 and obviously [F] it's you know, it's not it's not an easy for [B] anyone to lose a father
but I think at that age I was 15 and my sister was 13 and
It was very very hard.
I was very close to my dad and he died of cancer
[Ab] But I was very fortunate that we have a big family here in Neath and and you know
They all rallied round and we all got through it together
[E] Do you think that gave [Gb] you a?
Depth perhaps [Gbm] to your to your life and to [N] your thinking about what mattered in life that you might not have had otherwise
Definitely, you know
I think it definitely makes you grow up when you lose a
parent because you know
I suddenly have to I felt like I have to look after my mom and [Db] and Laura and and you
Feel more responsible and also it gives me this view [Ab] on life that you have to live for the moment, [N] you know
You never know what's around the corner and so you've got to just enjoy it and take each day as it comes
And your faith Catherine how important is that to you?
It well, it's been it's been very very important to me and and in fact, you know
I've been a member of my church since well as young as I can remember
And it's got me through so much through
You know my losing my father and you know when times can get a little bit stressful when I'm away from home
and even the whole community of
Our church, you know, they've really rallied round and helped and I know I have that support whenever I am away in another country
But also I do feel incredibly fortunate and I'm you know, I pray and thank thank God for
For everything that I've been blessed with and I you know, I really do feel grateful for that
And so we had to have something Welsh to finish with
Guide me all that great Redeemer Yes
and we're going to be singing this with the Neath male voice choir and they're also going to be joined by the
Palenna Valley male voice choir, which I used to sing with him when I was younger when I was a teenager and in fact
They gave me a special [Db] grant if you like a bursary to buy music at the time, which really helped me out
So [Eb] it's really lovely that they could be involved
