[C] But really in the Old Testament, I read [Gm] a story about a woman named [F] Hagar, and she was a [G] slave.
And her body had [Am] been used to have a child.
[G]
And that family that used her had no love for [F] her.
And the Bible says [D] that that woman, she ran [Am] away into a place called the wilderness,
[G]
which is like a dark and desert [F] place.
And while she was out [G] there, pregnant, [C] she came to a fountain.
And at [G] that fountain, there was an angel of the Lord there.
And he spoke to her.
And he [G] spoke truth into her life.
And just told her that God knew her situation, he was going to be with her.
And that story just reminded me so much of [C] a story in the New Testament about the woman at the well,
[G] who was married by them.
[Am] She was married about five times, and she was [F] living with a man that wasn't her husband.
[Am] From that, I can imagine [G] what life she had been [F] through.
The Bible tells us about her story, is that [Am] she went out to fetch [G] water at a well.
[F] And when she was there, [C] Jesus was there.
[G] And he spoke.
He spoke truth to her.
[D] And she was changed.
[G] You know, for both those women, it was at a place where there was water, where they heard from the Lord.
And God just said, Kathleen, go to that fountain, go to that fountain of living water.
You will never be thirsty again.
And I know that living water is Christ Jesus.
[D]
There [Am] she was, all [F] alone.
Her [C] heart was broken, [A] her body worn.
New [Am] with a child, she [F] felt so used.
She [C] wasn't wanted, only [D] accused.
She [Am] was empty, her soul was [F] thirsty.
Her [D] heart was angry, for men have [G] done her wrong.
So she [A] ran into the [F] wilderness, [G] not knowing where else to turn.
[A] She went to the [Am] fountain, where [F] there was water.
There she [D] met the Lord.
And he said, [C] whosoever [D] drinketh of this water [F] shall [G] [C] thirst again.
But whosoever [G]
drinketh of the water [F] that I shall give, [G] shall [A] never thirst [Am] again.
[F] [G]
[G] There [A] she was, [Am] at [F] the door.
She wanted [C] to leave, she couldn't take [A] much more.
And time [Am] after time, and man [F] after man, tore [C] out her heart while [G] holding her hand.
She [Am] was empty, her soul [F] was thirsty.
[C] Her heart was angry, for men have [G] done her wrong.
[Am] So she ran into [F] the wilderness, [G] not [C] knowing where [G] else to turn.
She [Am] went to the fountain, where [F] there was water.
[G] There she met the Lord.
[C] And he said, whosoever [G] drinketh of this water [F] shall [G] thirst again.
[C] But whosoever [G] drinketh of the water [F] that I shall give, [G] shall never thirst [Am] again.

So [Am] when you're there, [F] oh, [C] and your heart is broken, and your [G] body worn.
And time [Am] after time, [F] and man after man, tore [C] out your heart while [G] holding your hand.
[Am] You are empty, your [F] soul is thirsty.
Your [C] heart is angry, for men have done [G] you wrong.
[Am] And you're out in [F] the wilderness, [C] not knowing where else [G] to turn.
[Am] Go to the fountain of [Dm] [C] living water.
[G] There you'll meet the Lord.
And he will say, whosoever [G] drinketh of this water [F]
[G] shall thirst [C] again.
But whosoever [G] drinketh of the water that [F] I shall give, shall never thirst.
[D] Now [C] whosoever [G]
drinketh of this water [F] shall [G] thirst again.
But whosoever drinketh of the water that [F] I shall give, shall [G] never thirst again.
