I would like now to introduce Act 4 on this evening's show.
And now we go from the West.
This is the beauty of the show.
We go from the West now up to Queensland.
And in Queensland, Keith Urban is a vocalist and guitarist, 16 years of age,
and Keith's ambition is to be a radio announcer.
He's done nightclubs and school dances, he appeared on Reg Lindsay's country Homestead,
and tonight he's got all out of love.
Act 4, Keith Urban from Queensland.
[G] [D] [G] [C]
[D] [G] [D] [C] I'm lying alone [G] with my head on the [C] phone
Thinking of [G] you till it [C] hurts
I know you hurt [Bm] too, but what else can we [Em] do?
Tormented and [C] torn [D] apart
[C] I wish I could carry your [G] smile in my [C] heart
At times when my [G] life seems so low
[C] It would make me [Bm] believe what tomorrow could [Em] bring
When today [C] doesn't really know
[D] Doesn't really [G] know
I'm all out of love
[D] I'm so lost without [C] you
I know you were right
[D] Believing for so [G] long
I'm all out of [D] love
What am I without [C] you?
I can't be too late to say [D] that I was [G] so wrong
[C] I want you to come [G] back and carry me [C] home
Away from these [G] long lonely nights
[C] I'm reaching for [Bm] you
Are you feeling it too?
[Em] Does the feeling seem [C] oh so [D] right?
[C] And what would you [G] say if I called on you [C] now
And said that I [G] can't hold on
[C] There's no easy way
[Bm] It gets harder each [Em] day
Please log me or [C] I'll be gone
[D] I'll be gone
[G] I'm [D]
so lost without [C] you
I know you were right
[D] Believing for so [G] long
I'm all out of [D] love
[C] To say [D] that I was [G] so wrong
[Em] Ah, [Bm] what are you thinking [C] [Bm] of?
[Am] What are you thinking [Em] of?
[Bm] What are you thinking [C] [Bm] of?
[Am] What are you thinking [Bm] of?
[C] [D]
[G] [D] I'm so lost without you

To take four on tonight's show
Keith Urban from Queensland
And sixteen years of age
All out of love Here's Bob
Keith, you're only sixteen
So, um, you've got plenty of time
What actually is, uh
What actually is showing up in your voice
Is just an immaturity, that's all
You love singing
And, and, so what I mean by immaturing
Is tone and phrasing
What you're doing, perhaps it's nerves as well
I'm not sure, Keith, but you're breathing
Almost in the middle of phrases
Which is wrong
And that is throwing your intervals out
Intervals is from one note to another
And the only thing that can cover intervals
Is like any musical instrument
That your voice is
You have to do exercises
Now, either you get to a teacher
Or somebody like that
Who can give you these intervals
Uh, that's what I suggest you do, anyway
And, uh, you'll find that the voice will strengthen
Sixteen, my goodness
You've got the world in front of you
Good luck to you, Keith
I gave you thirty-nine
Thirty-nine
From Bobby
Keith, I meant that you ought to be a radio announcer
That's your ambition
More so than a singer?
Uh, I think radio announcing
Would be good publicity for a singer
Have you done any radio at all, any announcing?
Uh, I just finished a week of, um, work experience
At 4KQ radio station up at, uh, Queensland
And I just did a few demo tapes on the radio
What sort of radio announcer are you?
Are you, you know, the disc jockey type
Or the older type?
No, the disc jockey type Are you?
Well, unless my ratings improve down here in Melbourne
There could be a job going very soon
Between nine and twelve on New Zed Right?
I'm not interested, but Oh, sorry
Uh, yeah, Keith, um, in, we pilots
Talk about seat of the pants flying
And your seat of the pants singing
It's, uh, it's all ad lib
It's just sort of [Ab] coming out
You're taking a breath and singing a few lines
Singing a few words and taking another breath
And singing again
And it's mostly coming out right
So, perhaps you're satisfied with that
Now, the thing you've got to be careful of, of course
As a vocalist, is not to be satisfied with that
Because there's a lot more to do
And a lot more work to come
And you'll find you'll be happy you've taken the time
And effort to have lessons and strengthen the voice
Because it then becomes so much easier to sing well
And to sing sustained lengths of time
Like a whole floor show
At sixteen, I'd have thought, uh, for instance
You'd be pretty keen on, on forming a group
You're a little, um, I think as a solo performer
Not quite enough strength
Which is probably to do with the fact that you're [E] only sixteen
Uh, but if you had a, a rock group around you
And you were the lead vocalist
Um, you know, it's real Bay City Rollers time
Uh, it could be that sort [N] of feel
And another youthful group in Australia
Is not going to go astray
But, uh, you can do it
You just need to sort of seriously work on it now
Now that you've got the ability to play the guitar and sing
Um, get into it properly
Forty points from me
Forty from Rob, that's seventy-nine for you, Keith
I wish you well on your singing and also your radio ambitions
We're back with you after this break
