[A] Our songwriter series in the Acoustic Motel, hosted by the affable Jack Ingram, features
tremendously talented artists.
Here's a full performance from those sessions with the super soulful Memphis, Tennessee
native Kelly McWhee.

[D] [Dm] [D]
Thanks Mr.
Benson, sir.
You know when Kelly McWhee sings, you can [A] really hear her Memphis soul sensibilities.
[E] And why not?
It's where she's from.
She makes awesome texts at her home base now.
[D] And she returned [A] to Memphis to record her album, You Used to Live [E] Here.
Our featured artist here in the Acoustic Motel this time [G] is Miss Kelly [A] McWhee.
Take [E] Me Home, and it was a song I wrote with Phoebe Hunt.
[D] She's a fantastic [A] fiddle player and [E] guitar player.
So that came out of [G] a trip that I took to [A] Nashville, a lonely old solo trip that I took
[G] to Nashville, and [C] write songs.
And I don't know, just tried to put my big girl [D] panties on and go write by myself.
[G]
And I quickly was miserable.
It's cold, and I just got really [C] homesick.
And just silly, because [D] I don't get homesick.
But for some reason, I just [G] was ready to leave there.
The vibe was not happening.
[Em] And so Phoebe Hunt was coming over that day to [F#m] have a writing session [G] with me.
And she's someone that I've known for a while, so I [Em] felt comfortable kind of telling her
[D] how I felt, that I just [C] felt discouraged [D] and a little fish-out-of-water [G] weirdness.
And [C] she was like, you know, I've been feeling that same way all week.
I feel the same way.
[G] So we wrote that song pretty quick.
[D] She's pretty jazzy, [G] so some of that, I think you can hear that in the co-write, which [F#] is
my favorite part about co-writing, because every song is a little bit different.
[G#m] But yeah, I love that one.
[A#]

[A#] [G#m]
Boathouse, [B] highway, [A] [E] airplane [A] flying, my [E] soul is [B] crying.
Take me home, [G#m] [B] sidewall, lovers, [A] [E] storm cloud [A] covers, small [E] talk [B] hovers.
Take me home.
[C#m] Sing for me quietly, walk with me, [B] slowly, dance with me, smile for me, [G#m] comfort me, [C#m] hold
me somehow, [E] I've ended up, patterned and torn.
[B] Take me home.
[G#m]
Self [B] [A]-betraying, my memory [E] is [A] fraying, but [E] I'll keep praying.
[B] Take me home.
I'm [G#m] tired [B] and I'm needing [A] a little [E] loving, [A] healing, and [E] sleepless dreaming.
[B] Take me home.
[C#m] Sing for me quietly, walk with me, [B] slowly, dance with me, smile for me, comfort me, [C#m] hold
me, I think [E] I was better [B] alone.
Take me home.

I [E] think I was better [C#m] alone.
[E] From the places I [B] know, take me home.
