[G]
Sometimes I feel like a man in a cannon, about to go hurtling through.
Space would last fast, soon as the [C] match hits the fuse.
[G] We kind of just straight up acoustic guitar [Em] and [G] bass and drums and keys, but I mean I didn't even [Em] play it solo.
When we [G] tracked it, I just played all acoustic on [Em] it.
And then went back, it's one [G] of the times, [C] few times where we just left the solo wide open and overdubbed it later.
[G] And it's like my return to playing slide, I haven't played slide guitar since my [Em] third album.
Roll up, [C] [G]
world down [D] again, someplace we've [Em] never been.
Roll up, [C] world down again, someplace we've never been.
Because I'm not, you know, I'm not like the world's [G] greatest slide player.
And this is a really [D] simple slide solo, but what I [Em] like about it is, first of all that it's [C] simple.
So like anybody who's trying to [D] play slide can play it.
But also it's like, I'm playing it on the, I [G] think it's on the ES-335.
And the action's pretty low on that guitar.
And [D] so [Em] you can actually [Dm] hear like the [G] slide [Em] resting on the frets.
[G] Yeah, but I like that.
Yeah, I know, but it's cool.
It [Em] creates this really weird [G] effect that you don't normally hear in slide.
Because [Em] most of the time slide players want to stay away from that [C] sound.
That element, the piano, the [G] way Noah lifts that vocal [Em] in the chorus.
The [G] song's just got this sort of twisted positivity [Em] to it.
Did you ever notice that?
[Dm] Like the whole [G] song.
Right.
I [D] mean, lyric and [Em] melody notwithstanding.
[G] But the whole [C] song just sort of feels [G] like it wants to, [C] like it wants [G] you to gallop with it.
And feel the wind blow in your hair.
Right.
You know what I mean?
[Em]
[C] Like [G]
[D] the whole first [Em] verse, [C] sometimes, it's like, it's literally like a [G] sentence.
It's a sentence [D] divided into verses.
[Em]
[C] [D]
[Em] And I love the way Noah broke it up too.
You know, when he says, [A] space with lash fast, soon as the match is fused.
It's [Em] like almost like these little high-pitch.
That's Mark Selby, man.
Noah delivered it [A] incredibly well.
But like that's the beauty of Mark.
Because [Em] he sang it that way on the demo.
And it's like he just had that instinct.
And the way that [A] he's able to tell that story singing it.
And you're kind of like, what is he saying?
[C] But if you look at it on paper, it's just one sentence.
Right, but they're [D] all separate thoughts inside that sentence.
Which is clever.
Yeah, [Em] it is.
I've become [C] really attached to the [G] Hey Fellow Traveler, keep traveling.
[D] Like we're all in this together.
Absolutely.
It's [Em] just, we're on a journey [C] and all you can do is keep moving forward.
[G] You know, there's a real optimism to [D] it that I love.
[Em] I love this song.
Yeah, man, this [C] is one of my favorite songs on the record.
