Well then these tunes [B] all come from the [Em] playing of a man called [N] Finbarreau Dwyer,
who was a great accordion player that was here back in London.
He was originally from West Cork, came from a big musical family.
He had a couple of brothers, Richie, Micah, John, all great musicians.
But Finbarreau played the accordion mostly, he composed lots of great tunes.
He also played the fiddle, and the interesting thing about his fiddle playing
was that he would hold the bow in the left hand instead of the right hand.
Now he didn't really string the fiddle or anything, he just
when he started he picked it up wrong and he just stayed like that.
Which means he's playing the
It's kind of interesting.
But anyway, a very inventive connoisseur and musician.
And like I said, he wrote several tunes that entered the traditional repertoire.
But he also would play other people's tunes or standard tunes
and apply his inventiveness to those tunes also.
And as he used to say himself, as John was telling me,
he used to give these tunes the kiss of life.
So we're going to start off with a hornpipe,
one of these tunes to [C] which he gave the kiss of life.
It's a Patti Fahey hornpipe.
[N] And then a couple of his own tunes,
The Cobra Carambola and The Bear Island [G#] Rave.
[B] And Finbarreau [G] passed away a few months ago.
It would be nice to put together a set [N] of his music.
She was a great inspiration to us.
