Your [F#] eyes, if I catch your name, they'll pass out [F] yourself and let your thoughts [F#] stray
[D#] As you go [E] insane, go insane
Hi, I'm Olivia.
And I'm Pine.
And we're from kidsandwaves.com. We're here to play.
[C#] Can you introduce yourselves?
My name is Tom Uriah and I'm the lead singer and bass player for Slayer.
When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
Okay, one of the issues I have is that I'm supposed to wear hearing aids, so I don't hear very well.
[G] So you're going to have to speak up.
Okay, when was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
I cried because I'm sad and I'm here.
[B] I can't remember the last time I laughed.
You know when you [C#] hang out with people like this out on the road and stuff?
It's really hard.
It's hard to find a moment of laughter.
Do you have any family holiday traditions?
Traditions?
Yeah, with what I do, the only tradition I try to keep is to make sure that I'm home for the holidays.
That's a tradition.
And to make sure that we're all together during the holidays.
That's important for me.
[C#m] I try to do that.
It's not easy, [E] but I try.
If you had to change [C#m] your band name, but could only change it to a TV [C#] show or movie, what would your band be called?
[E] Man, that's a good question.
I've never [C#m] really given it a thought.
If I had to change the band name, I don't know.
Man, that's a good one.
[C#] You stumped me.
I don't know.
I've never really given that a thought.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you.
What was the other half?
What?
What was the other half of the question?
It has to be a TV show or movie.
A TV show?
Yeah, [E] maybe.
I can't [C#m] discuss that with you.
It would be gruesome.
I'm into [B] horror movies and stuff, so I'd have my family.
[B] I guess we could be a modern [C#] day Addams family.
Yeah, that would be my family.
We have [E] skulls and stuff.
Bloody things on the walls.
How often do the parents [C#] of the kids that go to your kids' school ask you for an autograph?
[B] Believe it or not, we took our kids out of school because of issues.
They had an issue with my son wearing skull t-shirts all the time.
[C#m] And they had an issue with me and my wife having tattoos and stuff.
So we didn't want our kids to grow up in that kind of environment, so [C#] we homeschooled.
Which is something that I'm glad we did, because it keeps us together longer during the day.
[C#m] And we can teach them how to be good people [G#] and not rely on people that we have no control over.
So they homeschool now.
But they're kids.
They [B] hate it.
All they've got to do is get up and do [C#m] work, and they hate that.
[B] I guess they're just kids, right?
Do you like going to school?
No.
I do.
Yeah, see, my kids are the same way.
They don't want to go to school, even if it's homeschooling.
I like middle school, but elementary school.
I like elementary [C#] school, but not middle school.
No.
Are you more afraid of going to the doctor or the dentist?
Oh, wow.
Both.
Both, especially if my teeth are hurting.
I don't want to go to the dentist.
[E] I have tattoos and stuff, but that's painful.
[G] And then the doctor, too, because everybody's afraid to go to the doctor,
because you don't want to [C#] find out there's something wrong.
If you don't go, you're okay.
When you were a kid and lip-syncing in front of the mirror, who were you pretending to be?
Oops, say that again?
When you were a kid and lip-syncing in front of the mirror, who were you pretending to be?
Oh, believe it or not, I did do that.
[B] But I had a broom in my hand.
I played a broom.
I wasn't [E] really pretending to be anybody, [C#] but I sang to Beatles songs,
because I grew up listening to the Beatles, so I'm a big fan of theirs.
But I would sing, play the broom, and I'd sing Beatles songs.
Don't you do that?
Don't you do that?
Sometimes.
It's fun.
It's fun to do that.
If somebody made a movie about your life, what would it be called and who would play you?
Oh, wow.
I would—what would it be called?
Oh, a long time ago, there was a cartoon.
You guys might remember this cartoon.
I can't remember the name of the cartoon, but one of the characters on it was called Vavoon.
[B] Felix the Cat, that kind of—back in those days.
There was a character called Vavoon, and he would go,
he would go, Vavoon, and he'd put a hole in his things and walk on through.
And my sister would nickname me that because I yelled so loud.
So I would [G] do that.
I would do a movie called [C#] Vavoon, you know, the life and times of a screamer.
Was there any music that scared you when you were my age?
[Bm] Wow.
You [C#] know, the movie that I think was really the creepiest that I guess I saw that would creep me out was The Exorcist.
When it first came out.
That really creeped me out.
I wasn't—I'm trying to think how old I was.
I'm old.
I'm probably older than these guys right here.
You may not think so, but I think I am.
The Exorcist, because it's really creepy.
One, because these movies are kind of based on an actual event.
Those to me are scary because to think that things like that really happen.
I sing and write about stuff like that, but to know that it can, it has happened, it's kind of scary.
And finally, can you name all the Spice Girls?
Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
No, I can't.
I'll try.
Ginger Spice.
Then there's Scary Spice.
I don't know what kind of spice that is.
You ever heard of Scary Spice?
No. No?
All right.
I think that's it.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
I don't know.
I have no idea what the other names are, but the only one that caught my interest was Scary Spice because [Bm] what kind of spice is that?
[B] You know, is it salty, bitter?
Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
