[Bm] Make my heart go boom, [G] boom
Something's right with [A] me
Wanting what you [Em] do
Something kind [Bm] of new
Something on my [G] tutu
Something's right with [A] me
Wanting to get a view
[Bm] You're gonna make me, make me love you
Nothing at all, I [A] do
Promise something, promise something
Start a something, start a [A] something
[Bm] You're gonna make me, make me [E] love you
Nothing at all, I [A] do
Promise something, promise something
Start a something, start a [Eb] something
Come up the underground
[B] Speed up the jungle ground
And [Eb] let our blues be
[Bb] overflown
When these girls get down
To the sound of the radio
I'm gonna let you know
[E]
Alright, we're here with Kimberly Walsh
I was just saying, because [D] we're so used to competitions now, aren't we?
I read on Twitter the other day, someone said
My daughter's just asked me for the Beatles 1X Factor
And I was just like
Because kids just love that
Let's just assume this stuff's happened forever
But you were in one of the original competitions, weren't you?
How did you get into Popstar's The Rival?
Yeah, so [Eb] I auditioned
Obviously [G] 11 years ago
It was one of the [D] first, you know, formats of a show like that
It was completely different
Like we had no idea going into it
You know, the scale of the program
Or anything like they do now
But yeah, I just auditioned in Manchester
There was like 30,000 people there the day I went
And funnily enough
Nicola was actually there
And there was actually like two girls in front of me to audition
[Gb] Weird, innit?
You were so innocent then
You know, when you look back on that
The whole thing just doesn't seem anywhere near as [D] slick as it is now
Yeah, and I think, you know
As you say, a lot of young girls and boys
Think that's the only way to do it
But for me, I'd been auditioning from such a young age
I started singing at like age 5, 6
And that was kind of my last ditch attempt, really
I was like, okay
This is probably the only way I can make it
So that's why I went for it
You know, at that age
You were auditioning to get into a girl group
You weren't auditioning on your own
It was going to be a girl group versus a boy group Exactly
Go head to head for number one
One true voice
Who won?
You did, obviously
Yeah, we won
Quite rare for girls to win a competition like that as well
Because everyone assumes that [F] everyone's going to vote for the boys
You know, young girls are going to vote for the boys
So it was quite an achievement for us
But we did have a great song with Sand of the Underground
In fact, were [N] the next people to win a show Little Mix
Yeah, and they're brilliant
They're great, I love Little Mix
Actually, Nicola writes for them
The problem with Little Mix is they're so quiet and laid back Exactly
They lack confidence
I love them
Really trying to get them talking
But you don't want a boring girl group, do you?
No
It's funny, when you get the girl groups on
I suppose similar to the guy You're all
How long does it take before you know she's speaking
I've got it
Honestly, it does get better with time
It starts to sense
She usually answers that kind of question
Okay, I'm going to take this one again
And it just spills out
But you do have to get in tune
We've seen that with the Saturdays over the years
The first time we met them, they were speaking all together
I think the first time they were on, I was in the kitchen
I had to go, silence!
We can't hear anything
And when you introduce yourself
You have to do those, hi, we're Girls Aloud
You all start to speak in the same accent
That's nothing like any of your real accents
You just create this one accent for that
You've got your book out
This is it, your life story
So far, yeah
Therapeutic, was it?
It was a little bit, actually
I wrote it straight after the last tour
So I knew it was the end
I think I'd been in a really nostalgic place
Just being on tour
Singing all of our hits
So it helped me, I think
It helped get it all out there
Is it definitely the end, then?
Yeah, it is
It's been ten, nearly eleven years
And we're all [E] grown women now
And I [G] think we had such an amazing time
We were really lucky
We had a great career
And it finished on a high
[Eb] And I think we all just really wanted it to stay that way
And because we did have some time
It's been such a long career
[D] I don't think we're going to have that thing
Where we're like, oh, I want to get back together
Like [E] a lot of bands are now
Because we had a long time together
[D] It's almost like a nano-life as well
Ten years in a band, because you work so hard
Is really equivalent to thirty years in a normal job
It feels a bit like that
It's really intense
We work every single day
There's no weekends, there's no holidays
But don't you think then that you will miss it?
In five years time, I might go, do you know what?
I'm not sounding underground for five years
I miss hard work
I will definitely have to throw myself into another project
That's why I did the West End for eight months
I did Strictly as well
That was a real project
I do like to keep working and be busy
So yeah, I'll have to find another one
Does the West End give you the same buzz as being in a band?
Do you know what?
[Eb] It's completely different
It's really different
But I [D] enjoyed that thing of turning up to work every day
Singing, because I love singing and acting and performing
But not having all the other stuff that goes alongside it
You know, all the rubbish part
Does it change your voice for the West End?
Yes, a completely different way of singing
So I had to retrain myself into that
Which I enjoyed
Why is it different?
Because you have to project
A lot of the songs are a lot more challenging to sing
You know, like obviously the girls stuff
It's pop music
I never really felt like I was really singing
And obviously you get to do that more with musical theatre
Which I love
[Db] So yeah, I enjoyed it
[G] Is it a bit tough?
Because like football, they have short careers
And very early
And a lot of them, they play in an FA Cup final
And then they spend the rest of their life going
Oh, it was brilliant
Guess who I was
I used to be a footballer
And I always say, sports people
Olympians, anything
They should make that a trivial bit of their life
Because otherwise it just takes over the whole of their life
Five years of your life or ten years of your life
Takes over the rest of the other 80 of it
It's a good point
I think it's important to keep [Eb] all the other things going on in your life
So that you don't feel so lost when it does disappear
And I think because I do love acting
[D] I do love performing
Presenting loads of other things
Hopefully I can [G] kind of, yeah Keep going
So what is next then?
I don't know
I want a new project that involves a bit of dancing
A bit of singing
A bit [D] of everything
So hopefully we'll get out something exciting next year
And you're going to help me with my kitchen aren't you?
And obviously I'll be [Ab] decorating your kitchen
That's it for quite a while to be honest
So yeah, just let me know when you need me
Thank you
And you're doing it for drinks [G] later on as well
Yes, Christmas drinks With Rebecca
I'll go for drinks after the show Yeah, yeah
And it's Kimberley's round [Bb] because last time she left
Before it was her round if you remember
[N] After the break we're in the kitchen
Making the ultimate Christmas dinner
Including perfect roast potato
See you soon
Something's right with [A] me
Wanting what you [Em] do
Something kind [Bm] of new

[D] It's almost like a nano-life as well
Ten years in a band, because you work so hard
Is really equivalent to thirty years in a normal job
It feels a bit like that
It's really intense
We work every single day
There's no weekends, there's no holidays
_ But don't you think then that you will miss it?
In five years time, I might go, do you know what?
I'm not sounding underground for five years
I miss hard work
I will definitely have to throw myself into another project
_ That's why I did the West End for eight months
I did Strictly as well
That was a real project
I do like to keep working and be busy
So yeah, I'll have to find another one
Does the West End give you the same buzz as being in a band?
Do you know what?
[Eb] It's completely different
It's really different
But I [D] enjoyed that thing of turning up to work every day
Singing, because I love singing and acting and performing
But not having all the other stuff that goes alongside it
You know, all the rubbish part
Does it change your voice for the West End?
Yes, a completely different way of singing
So I had to retrain myself into that
Which I enjoyed
Why is it different?
Because you have to project
A lot of the songs are a lot more challenging to sing
You know, like obviously the girls stuff
It's pop music
I never really felt like I was really singing
And obviously you get to do that more with musical theatre
Which I love
[Db] So yeah, I enjoyed it
[G] Is it a bit tough?
Because like football, they have short careers
And very early
And a lot of them, they play in an FA Cup final
And then they spend the rest of their life going
Oh, it was brilliant
Guess who I _ _ _ was
I used to be a footballer
So yeah, just let me know when you need me
_ _ _ _ Thank you
And you're doing it for drinks [G] later on as well
Yes, Christmas drinks With Rebecca
I'll go for drinks after the show Yeah, _ yeah
And it's Kimberley's round [Bb] because last time she left
Before it was her round if you remember
_ [N] After the break we're in the kitchen
Making the ultimate Christmas dinner
Including perfect roast potato
See you soon _
