Aloha, this is Kim Hussie and I want to tell you first of all, happy Friday.
In our last
episode I said happy Wednesday and it was because it was Wednesday that we recorded
this.
And so today I want to wish you all a happy Friday because that's when we're just
putting this up online for you.
The last time we talked about the song called Old to Joy
and the melody.
And here comes the melody again.
Thumb down only.
And here's the melody.
[G]
[F] [Cm] [Am]
[G]
[A] [G]
[F] [G]
[F] [N]
What we're going to do this time is to add the harmony to it.
We're in the key of F and
all we're going to do [F] is use two chords.
First F and the C7 [C] that we're going to use just
this F and C7 is going to be this one here.
[Am] [F]
[F] So first of all, let me play the melody and
the harmony together.
[E] And notice that I'm just going to use F and C7.
C7 this way and
combine both.
Here we go.
[C]
[F]
[Am] [C]
Then the repeat.
[F] F, C7, [C]
[F]
[G] C7.
[F] [N] Let me do that again and this time
as I do it I will call off the chords.
And again it's just F, C7, F, C7, F, C7.
Throughout
the song I think we do that four times.
Again, we're keeping the right hand very, very simple.
It's just the downward stroke of the thumb.
And what I'm doing with the thumb is to start
with the G string and just strum down only with the thumb to get to the melody.
Here
we go.
I'll start with [F] F.
[C] C7, F, C7.
[Am]
Back to [F] F.
[C]
[F]
[C] C7 [F] to F.
[D] Let me do that one more time
and then we'll give you the opportunity to practice it.
[F] Here we go.
F,
[C]
[F]
[Am] C7, [C]
F, [F]
[C] C7.
[F]
[C] [F]
Okay,
[N] remember downward stroke of the thumb only to keep things simple.
Chord wise it's just F and C7,
F and C7.
And the C7 all you have to do is slide over [G] to the third fret on the G string.
So it's
F, [C] C7, [C]
[F] add the melody that you've been [E] working on and we've basically got half the song learned.
Next time we'll take care of the second half and we're
