[C#m] So what do we mean [G] by exposed?
[D] _ _
[C] _ [B] Well, there are lots of things in this [E] unusual mix
of the [G] studio recording from 1974
that have either not been [B] there before
or [Em] have been difficult to hear with this [C] clarity.
_ _ [Bm] _
Yes, there [Am] is one major [C] item missing,
Bill [G] Bruford's drumming
with all the wonderful [C] trash metal [B] fills.
[D] But it's [Em] the absence of the drums
[C] that allows the hidden [Bm] intricacies
of the arrangement [Am] to be heard.
_ Things like the wah [F#] guitar during the [B] pauses
in the main riff,
or the subtle guitar arrangement during the verses
where there's a different overdub on each beat. _ _ _
_ [F#m] _ But there's [C] more, [B] much more.
_ [B] _ Very often [C] when musicians are recording [Bm] songs,
[F#] especially when those songs are [Bm] newly written
and haven't been played live before,
they experiment by recording different ideas.
Many [C] of which are eventually [B] not used.
_ _ These unused ideas are often later deleted from the tapes.
_ [Bm] _ But in the case [C] of One More Red [B] Nightmare,
there is a rich [F#] seam of such goodies. _ _ _
[Bm] During the instrumental [B] section,
which follows the second verse, for example,
there's a wonderful extended guitar solo.
And in the background, a distorted organ.
_ _ [F#] In the second [B] instrumental section,
there [C] are numerous different [B] versions
of the saxophone solo by Ian MacDonald
[C] reappearing with King Crimson for the first time [B] since 1969.
_ [Bm] _
[C] And those are just a few, [B] lots of [C] subtle moments to enjoy.
[B] _
_ _ _ _ [C] So here it is, [B]
the previously [E] unreleased
One More Red Nightmare, exposed.
