Hey, what's up everybody?
This is Monkey from Korn and you're hanging out with me today at the Korn studio.
Right now I'm going to show you how to play the song Falling Away From Me.
Check it out.
[Bb] [Db]
So this song I'm going to show you [Am] is a song off of The Issues album.
It's a song called Falling Away From Me.
And the tunings are the same, which are A, [D] D, [G] G, [C] C, [Fm]
[A] A.
[D]
So this song starts on a clean sound with a reverb pedal and also a tremolo sort of chorus sound.
And it also starts [Am] with a neck position pickup.
So I'll move that over.
It starts high on the neck, so on the 15th fret with your pinky.
And it kind of has the shape of a [Eb] minor chord.
You add your pinky to get the shape as well for the first note.
[Bb] [Am] [Em] And that is the first one, two, three, four, five notes, six notes of the [D] intro.
So let me play it again slow and I'll play the next bit, which is just one note off of that.
[Am]
[E] And that's the only, the second time around, the only other note that you play differently [D] is on the 14th fret on the B string.
So let me play it again.
[Am]
[B]
And it's about a little faster than that on the original recording.
And [D] so let me play it one more time.
[Am] And you let those strings ring out together to kind of [D] give you that dissonant sounding, sort of a corn sound.
[Am]
[B] [N] And that's the intro of the song.
So then it proceeds to go into the groove and that's when the band comes in, which is kind of tricky.
When I'm playing it live, I have to hit three pedals.
I go from, because it's just a dirty sound.
So I have to switch the pickup selector back to the bridge pickup.
Then I go into the dirty sound.
And this is simultaneously.
Now I don't get it right every time.
And don't worry about it because hitting three pedals at once takes some practice.
So I go to dirty.
Then I remove that, which is the reverb.
And then I remove the tremolo to go into the main riff.
And then I'll play the main riff for you.
And then I'll show you how I attempt to hit all three pedals at once very quickly.
And so the main riff is.
[A]
[F] And the shape of the chord starts on the 13th fret on the E string, followed by the 14th fret on the A string, second finger.
Followed by the 15th fret, third [A] finger on the D string.
And then open on the B.
And there's a palm mute and the groove is slow.
Play it like this.
I'll play it slow and then I'll play it fast.
[A]
You let that low string ring out.
So let me play it a little bit faster for you.
So the first note is palm muted.
So lay your palm over the bridge.
It's a [F] down-up motion I'm using as picking.
And that's the main riff of the song.
Then in the verse, it returns to the clean sound, the reverb [Abm] again, and then the tremolo back to [D] this.
And then don't forget this here because it's a sweet spot on the guitar for this sort of a clean sound.
[Am]
Let me show you how the transition works and then I'll show you the chorus.
So essentially the intro of the song, play it [D] clean.
[A] [D] [B]
[D] [Am] [Dm]
[B] [A]
[C] And then that's the tricky part because I just missed that.
And then it goes back to the clean.
[D] [E] That's where the vocals come in.
[Am] [D] [Am]
Back to the main riff.
[B] [A]
[Db]
[G] And that's the beginning of the song.
So the next section of the song is the chorus and it's played as bar chords and it [A] goes like this.
[C]
[F] [A] [C]
[Eb] [G] Let me play it slow for you.
It's just a [A] bar chord.
[E]
[A]
[E] [C] Then it [Ab] has a pickup sort of
[Bb]
[A] It jumps [C]
[Gb] up here to the E string.
[Eb]
[A] That's the chorus.
[C]
[A] [C] [A]
[C] [A]
[C] [D] [N]
And then it goes into the bridge section, which is sort of a sound we refer to in the band called the bumblebees.
When two guitarists are doing it, it kind of sounds like a swarm of bees.
And it's a bending note which starts on the G string and the third fret.
And you play the B string [A] with it together.
And you probably heard some Korn songs.
There's a lot of Korn songs we use it in.
And it's picked double time, which is
So essentially you want this [Ab] [A] note, this note.
So you bend it up.
They're both the same note.
So it starts
[Am]
And then you release the bend.
[A] Bend it back to natural.
[Ab] [A]
[Ab] [A]
[N] And that is the bridge.
Okay, so the transitions in this song are tricky because when we write a record and record something,
This is Monkey from Korn and you're hanging out with me today at the Korn studio.
Right now I'm going to show you how to play the song Falling Away From Me.

_ [C] _ _
[F] _ _ [A] _ _ [C] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Eb] _ _ _ [G] _ Let me play it slow for you.
It's just a [A] bar chord.
_ _ _ _ [E] _ _

_ _ [A] Bend it back to natural. _
_ [Ab] _ _ [A] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ [A] _ _
_ [N] And that is the bridge.
Okay, so the transitions in this song are tricky because when we write a record and record something,
