[G] I don't know if you like words and that kind of thing, this song has lots of words in it.
I don't know if you like words and that kind of thing, [Ab] this [G] song has lots of [E]
words in [N]
[Dbm] [B]
it.
[N]
The majority.
A willy bell so elected that he spoke to Dennis Cassidy, who owned a room of a very [E] LAAAAAAG
[N]
Capacity.
Here's the story, go over to the brewers and order a hundred kegs of blacker beer.
Give it to the poor.
Then go over to the butcher shop and order up a ton of meat.
Be sure the boys and girls have got all they want to drink and eat.
And send out invitations in twenty different languages, and don't forget to tell them
all to bring their own sandwiches.
They may need the senator to show them gratitude.
We'll have the finest supper ever given in this latitude.
The hell and the mules will be foraged by our Rafferty, assisted on the inlet pipes
by Felix Minkman Cafferty.
Whatever the expenses are, sure tell them all to put up the tin.
And anyone who doesn't come be sure to do not let them in.
But Dennis Cassidy at once sent out the invitations, and anyone who came was [Gb] a credit to [N] the nation.
Some came on bicycles because there was no fare to pay.
And although that didn't come, they dug their minds to stay away.
The two between the Irish in the dining hall was young men, it was old men, it was girls
that went on medical.
[Fm]
Blind men, [N] deaf men, men who had the chicken pox.
There was single men, double men, men who had their glasses on.
Well in a few minutes nearly every chair was taken to the top rooms.
The mushrooms were packed to suffocation.
When everyone was seeing it and we started to lay out the feast, Cassidy says,
Rise up and give us each a cake a piece.
He then said his manager that he would try and fill the chair.
We then sat down and all looked over that bit of fare.
[Eb] Well there was pig's heads, goldfish, muffin burgers [N] and ostriches, ice cream, cold cream,
batteries and sandwiches.
Blue fish, green fish, fish eggs and packages.
There was fish balls, snowballs, cannonballs and cartridges.
We ate oatmeal till we could hardly store it out.
There was ketchup, hurry up, sweet kraut and sauerkraut.
Dressed beef, naked beef, beef with all its trousers on.
There was salad, crackers, fire, crackers, Cheddar cheese with riches on.
Beefsteaks and missteaks were down upon that bit of fare.
[Ab] Roast ribs and spare ribs and [Abm] ribs that we couldn't spare.
Reindeer [N] and snow deer and deer meat and antelope and the women ate so much of that
and the men all said they can't allow.
Reindeer and smoke, herring, herring from a learned oil.
Bank I'd open, fruitcake and sausages a half a mile.
Hot corn and cold corn and corn cake and honeycomb, redfoot, red books, sea bass and sea foam.
Fried liver, baked liver, cartridges, liver pills.
And everyone was wondering just who was going to pay the bill.
Well we ate everything that was down upon that bill of fare.
Then we looked on the back just to see if any more was there.
For dessert we had icepicks, toothpicks and a piece of skipping rope.
And we washed it all down with a big piece of shaving soap.
The band played horn pipes, gas pipes and Irish reels.
And we danced to the music of the wind that shakes the barry fields.
And the piper played old tunes and spit tunes so very fine.
In comes Bigger Fat and gave to him a glass of wine.
They wailed at the floor till they could be heard for miles around.
And Gallaher was in the air as speed were never on the ground.
A pointer said a dancer you'd never set your eyes upon.
And anyone who couldn't [Gb] dance was dancing with their [E] slippers on.
Some [C] danced, jigged, stepped, tore steps [Db] and the violin flings.
And the marquee [E] topper bent over [N] and tried to flip the pigeon's wings.
When the dance was over, Cassidy told us to all join [Ab] hands and sing [B] this good old [E] chorus.
[D]
[N] Shout out acquaintance, be far gone, whoever [Ab] you [A] may [N] be.
Let's think of the good old times we had, the Irish jubilee.
