[C] [Dm] [C]
[G] [C]
Well today is my last day.
[G] I'm [F] officially retired.
I'll just [C] sit around in my uniform.
But I can tell you some stories.
[F] If anyone still cares, I've seen [C] all of these last eight years.
You see, I'm the oldest member of the [F] Port of Alphantis Church.
I came here [C] when they opened up the door.
I've heard the gospel preached here at the congregation chapel [Fm] when they [Bb] lost soul [G] and found its way [C] to the Lord.
[G] I've seen them come and go [C] here, the hypocrites and saints.
Some were poor and some were well-to-do.
Politicians looking for a [F] vote, those looking for a raincoat have all sat [C] here on Sunday.
[G] I'm an [C] old church here.
I've heard some pretty things.
How the righteous they would reign, [Bbm] felt folks [C] squirm when the preacher got too high.
I've seen tears of joy and sorrow, and I [F] can testify there's power [G] in the mighty [C] man of God.
I'll miss the sanctuary and the worship [F] most of all, but the only [C] folks now need a softer seat.
But I'm thankful for the memories, had to hear it [F] because I've seen them.
And they all [G] say God will make a [C] great anthem.
Well, I [Am] came to meet Paul Francis on that [Em] big old chestnut oak.
[Bb] That's the light that [C] struck the spring of [G] 33.
[Am] Me at the little short beach that the deacons always [C] use.
[F] We're gonna miss the [C] [G] hallelujahs, we're just [C] old church kids.
[G] I've seen them come and go here, the [Dm] [C] hypocrites and saints.
