Launchpad For Beginners! chords
Jam Along & Learn...
Over the last few years, Launchpad artists such as myself have been using software called
our Launchpad content.
The issue has always been that the setup for Launchpad projects [Ebm] is far too [F] overcomplicated.
[F] It took me at least 4 hours to set up [Bbm] everything I needed in Ableton, [Ab] and that was even after
and I knew what I was doing in the setup, so it's just kinda [Gb] complicated really.
projects are also far too clunky and can be really tough for a beginner
The projects have been complicated and the user is expected to have [Gb] perfect hand independence
right from the [Eb] start, and up until now there's never really been a simple way to practice

_ Over the _ last few years, Launchpad artists such as myself have been using software called
[F] Ableton Live to create our Launchpad content.
[C] Quick shoutout to Ableton Live 10 by the way, I'm kinda [Abm] hyped to download you.
The issue has always been that the setup for Launchpad projects [Ebm] is far too [F] overcomplicated.
_ _ _ [F] _ It took me at least 4 hours to set up [Bbm] everything I needed in Ableton, [Ab] and that was even after
I purchased a new desktop and I knew what I was doing in the setup, so it's just kinda [Gb] complicated really.
These Launchpad projects are also far too clunky and can be really tough for a beginner
[Abm] to get a grip with.
The projects have been complicated and the user is expected to have [Gb] perfect hand independence
right from the [Eb] start, and up until now there's never really been a simple way to practice
the [Abm] skills needed to get going with Launchpad projects.
Luckily I came across this software [Gb] called Melodics, and it essentially removes the complexity
of [Bbm] some Ableton projects and breaks it down for the [Abm] beginner users.
The setup process is extremely simple and only takes about a minute which makes it so
[Bbm] much easier for the beginners to get going.
Once you're inside the app you'll be prompted to give yourself a fancy DJ name, and I'm
gonna call [Bb] _ [Gb] myself_ Eat [F] Bread.
So once you've made your username you'll be given 3 options.
You can either start with Melodics Pads, [Abm] Melodics Drums, or Melodics Keys.
In this case I'm gonna run [Ab] you through the projects that are [Gb] available for Melodics Pads,
seeing as obviously I have the Launchpad and it's kind of [Abm] appropriate.
_ So what you do to get started is you just plug [Db] in your Launchpad, [Gb] let it sync up with
Melodics, and go over to the next step, and it should be [F] right there [Ab] available for you,
and you can test it out just to see if the audio is working properly. _ _ _
[Db] _ _ _ [E] _ _ [Abm] Yep, I think that's working properly.
Once you've gone through that stage you'll be able to [F] sign up for the software with an
email and [Bbm] a password, _ and just press [Abm] next, and you're basically in the software, there's
nothing really more to it.
_ [Gb] Once you've created an account and you're inside the main app screen, you'll be presented
with a [Bb] collection of [Ab] lessons that you can potentially play through in order to help
yourself gain the skills needed for Launchpad [Gb] projects.
The majority of the lessons available for the Lite users are really useful for [Ab] practicing
and gaining the hand [Abm] independence that always appears as an issue [C] for beginner controllerists
and Launchpad players.
It helps you learn by [Eb] taking you through the steps [F] necessary to learn a whole sequence.
You can go through either slowly, [Em] or set up a waiting mode to allow you to take it slow
while practicing, and essentially wait for each key to trigger before you press it.
Taking it slow like this and practicing really slowly is exactly how I practice before I
film a Launchpad video.
It's much easier to slow it right down and take it step by step.
_ Once you've learned each stage it will give you [E] a score, and you can then progress onto
the next stage, and in doing so learn the full performance.
_ [G] _ _ [Db] _ _ _ [D] _ _
[G] _ _ _ [Db] _ _ [Eb] _ _
The Lite version of Melodics gives you access to a good range of lessons, and does in fact
make it so much easier to pick up the basic skills needed for even the most [F] complex Launchpad performances.
Melodics will [Eb] help you move yourself forward in the [Ab] world of Launchpad performances, [G] and
all that kind of stuff, [Cm] and is something that I kind [D] of wish I had [Fm] when I began this channel.
[Ab] I'll leave a link in [Eb] the description to where you can get a free copy of Melodics, available
on both Mac and Windows computers.
I want this to help [Ab] out any beginners out there willing to get a Launchpad and start
[Eb] developing skills for Launchpad performances.
If you feel [Bb] like you've learned enough from [Eb] Melodics you can always move onto the higher
[Cm] grades which [Eb] include lessons from other Launchpad [G] artists such as Riot, [A] and various other controllerists
as well such as Buddy Peace.
[F] Or you can even visit cascobie.com slash [Cm] projects to [D] download some of my [Eb] own self-made Ableton
projects [F] that also include light effects, [G] pages of samples, [Ebm] and many more tracks as well.
[F] I hope this helps you out in learning [G] what's needed to master the most [Eb] complex Launchpad project files.
Thanks for watching [Gm] guys, and I hope you have a good time using Melodics. _
