Lauren Alaina Interviews Waterloo Revival Backstage at the ACMs! chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys, how are you?
Doing great.
The Waterloo Revival.
These boys are killing it backstage at ACM.
Are you guys pumped to be here?
Oh, so pumped, yeah.
Do you guys, how many, is this your second?
This is our second time being here. Yeah, yeah.
Very excited to be here after the five years we've been here.
I did.
The scariest.
I was praying for a miracle.
We had a lot of print in.
We had Chris Lane sitting behind us, he had a fan in his face, and we moved it away and let the talk out.
It was getting serious, and I'm still shaking.
I get really scared when there's a little bit of turbulence.
And there was enough that the plane was dropping.
And I was like, I'm going to die.
The pilot said we're going to try to land, and when you get that, you're like, okay.
Were you on the flight that just kind of circled around?
I had a few prints on that one.
No, I got here at noon, so I landed right before, it was like this.
But we landed when we were supposed to.
I honest to God would have died of a panic attack if I had been on it.
You don't understand.
I am terrified of flying.
The only redemption was the back row had like Genuine My Pony playing really loud, and we're singing at the top of their lungs.
So you can't be mad or scared when that's going on.
Who was playing it?
Just completely random people.
But we were singing along.
Cody Snapchatted it, if you want to check it out.
Well, I'm glad you guys are here and I get to interview you.
I'm not a great pilot.
Can I tell a story about the first time that we met you? Yeah.
So we were playing a guitar poll in Seattle.
I don't know if you remember this, but Cody and I were tuning up our guitars in the couch in the green room.
And we're sitting, and we probably got as much space as you are between us on the couch.
And we feel somebody come over the back of the couch, like a front flip somersault.
And [E] then you put your arms around both of us, and you're [Ab] like, hey guys, I'm Loren Elena.
Nice to meet you.
We're like, what?
We're probably not going to forget that.
That sounds very accurate.
[N] I don't remember doing it.
Yeah, well, you know, you must do that a lot.
I was flipping out over you guys.
You're flipping out.
You're really good at the front.
Yeah, they're my thing.
I know.
We're Facebook friends.
Yes.
Yes, we are.
Are we Facebook friends?
I think so.
Yes.
Yeah.
We are Facebook official up in this house.
Place.
This isn't a house.
I don't know why I said in the house.
Arena, maybe.
Arena.
Which, by the way, Dierks is sound checking back there right now.
We heard Black going on.
You know what?
I mean, Miranda, Martina, goodness gracious.
My brain doesn't work.
Miranda was sound checking and I was geeking out.
And now I'm like, hey, I'm just here to do the sound check.
This is what I do.
It's casual for me.
Okay, so we have this Jenga thing.
And you pull your own question out of there.
How you feel about that?
You want to do that?
Are we in trouble if we knock it over?
No, I think it's amazing if you knock it over.
I hope you do.
Oh, my gosh, you're really going to.
No, I'm really trying not to.
That's a very –
Jordan's not the best Jenga player.
See, the trick is to mess it up just enough to where you don't knock it over,
but the next person is for sure going to knock it over.
It's not looking – I would just pull from the top if I were the next person.
Okay, who is your hero?
Besides me.
Besides Lauren Alaina.
Can't say me.
That took my answer.
I would say being from Texas and growing up in Austin, it would be George Strait.
Oh, that's a good one.
Or Willie.
Or Willie Nelson.
I want to live like Willie Nelson does right now.
I want to have a place in Hawaii and smoke all the time.
Nice, Cody.
Relax.
Yeah.
And then after being on –
Yeah, exactly.
After being on tour with Toby Keith all summer,
that was somebody that we could definitely aspire to be like, too.
He was pretty cool.
That's cool.
What are you guys doing this summer?
Do you have festivals and all kinds of things?
You're working on new music, I heard.
Yes, we actually just released our brand-new single,
What Guy Wouldn't, today on iTunes.
We got to meet David Lee Murphy.
Good morning.
USA.
We got to meet David Lee Murphy on tour this summer with Toby.
And after a couple shows, he came up to us.
He's like, guys, I've got a song that I think is a hit for Waterloo Revival.
And after we heard it, like, it was a no-brainer for us.
Oh, I want to hear it.
So we cut it and just released it today.
We're going to tour the rest of the year behind it.
We're really excited.
Just put it on my Facebook wall.
I'll check it out.
Just leave it there.
Yeah, I'll check her Facebook wall for it, okay, or iTunes and Spotify.
All right, guys, I know you have to talk to a million people,
but thanks for chatting with me. Thanks, Austin.
That was definitely our most interesting interview today.
Yeah, well, it's me.
I'm flipping over the back of couches on the
