[F]
[Am] [Dm]
[Bb]
[F] I keep fighting voices [Am] in my mind that say I'm not [Dm] enough.
It was the [Bb] day [C] after my very first Dove Awards,
[F] and I remember being completely [Am] overwhelmed.
I walked into the studio, and [Dm] Paul and Jason, my producers, were in there,
and they're like, [C] all right, what's going on in your world?
How's it been?
It was [F] the first time we had written since How Can It Be.
I just [Am] remember feeling like so much had happened the night [Dm] before.
How do I come back down
[Bb] [C] to normal?
How do I come back down to [F] reality?
And started realizing these patterns of
[Am] really high highs and then, okay, now there's [Dm] a low.
Really high high, now there's a low.
And involving [Bb] expectation in that space [F] can just leave you kind of questioning your identity.
Where do [Am] I fit in?
Where is my security?
[Dm] Where is my footing?
[Bb]
[F]
[Am]
[Dm]
[Bb] So
[F]
[Am]
[Dm] when
[Bb]
[F] writing [Am] You Say, I just remember feeling [Dm] for the first time pretty conflicted.
It was
[Bb] definitely the first moment [F] in just being an artist that I was like, okay, where [Am] is all this going exactly?
And I [Dm] know that we've all faced moments in life where we can feel a [Bb] crossroads happen,
where we can see the past [F] and also see the future and realize how we are [Am] supposed to exist in the present.
And it was one of those [Dm] moments where I could see where things were going,
[Bb] and I knew exactly where I came from, and I needed those [F] worlds to still be married.
And [Am] thus brought up the issue of just identity and [Dm] trying to figure out how to exist
when I feel like so [Bb] many things are pulling me in so many different directions.
[F] With that, I think a lot of times we build these complexes [Am] about, you know, based on insecurity,
based [Dm] on fear, based on rejection, and just lies that [Bb] we have to constantly overcome.
And so [F] this song for me was just a reminder of identity.
It was a [Am] reminder that, you know, [Dm] when I'm weak, He's strong.
So how do [Bb] I change that and bring that into my everyday life?
[F] When I feel inadequate, how is it that there's always these moments [Am] where I feel like God just steps in and [Dm] supersedes my inadequacies?
This entire song [Bb] was so that every single night I would get up on stage and remind [F] myself,
no, this is the [Am] truth, this is the truth, this is the truth.
Don't get buried [Dm] in confusion.
Don't get buried in, [Bb] like, waywardness.
Just [F] remember to study the Course, study the Course.
That's the [Am] story behind this.
You say I [Dm] am strong when I think [Bb] I am weak.
You say I am [F] held when I am [Am] falling short.
When I don't [Dm] belong.
Oh, you say [Bb] I'm yours.
And [F] I believe.
Oh, [Am] I believe.
What you say [Dm] of me.
