_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ [B] Hi, this is Jeffrey Paul Ross for Next Level Guitar dot com.
Today we're going to work on kind of a slow minor key, sort of surfy, sort of Chris Isaac _ _
thing.
I'm not really sure how you would label it, but _ it's kind of a slow mambo groove.
And we're in the key of A minor, and [C] we're basically going [Dm] A minor, G major, F major,
ending on A minor.
So once again, if you would like a free video lesson that is not on YouTube, with a Coinciding
eBook, _ just click on that link below and we will send you this free video lesson with
the Coinciding eBook, all for free, from Next Level [Am] Guitar dot com.
So here's the progression, it's two bars of each.
So one, two, three, four, five, _ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [F] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ _
[E] six, and _ I've _ [Am] _
got a fair amount of reverb, _ also if you have
like a delay pedal, some long delay, something that's kind of syrupy and kind of swimmy,
makes it _ _ kind of atmospheric, _ all that stuff would sound good.
I'm using the Bigsby.
[A] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ So, I just showed you the chords and now the riff, [Am] _ _ _ _
_ _ [E] and that's basically a minor scale.
_ _ [A] _ _ [Em] We're going to start here on the [E] A string, _ on the 7th fret, [A] _
and then we're going to catch
[E] the, _ so [Am] it's the E note on the A string, and we're going to catch the A [E] note on the D string
right under it.
[A] _
_ _ _ [E] _ _ The next note is here on the 4th fret on the G string, first finger, _
[B] _ _ and we're just going
[E] up the minor scale there.
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ [B] _
So your last note of that _ _ _ pattern right there would be that E note on the 5th fret on the [Am] B string.
_ _ _ _ _ And then as it drops [Em] down to the G chord, [E] _ _ [G] _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ [B] so hammer on, [E] _
_ [Em] _ _ _ [B] and then fly [E] down, _ _ and you
can do that all one pick, it would sound good.
_ _ _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ [Bb] Sliding down [E] a whole step. _ _
Then [G] _ _ _ I'm hitting this G chord, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ and you know, give it some vibrato, you know if you have
some type of vibrato. _ _
_ Now that G, it [Em] doesn't have any 3rd in it, it's just [G] a _ G _ _ note on the D string, 5th fret,
3rd finger, _ open G, _ _ _ _ _ and then I'm barring there on the 3rd fret with my 1st finger. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ [Em] And then, now as it slides down to the [E] F, _ _ _ _ _ you're going to do this slide up and back,
starting on the 3rd fret with your 1st finger on the B string, _ _ [C]
and then down a whole [E] step.
_ _ [Am] _
_ [C] _ _ _ Now you're going to [G] play that same chord that you played up here [C] for the F. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
And once again, you can use the vibrato. _ _ _
And then we're going to do [B] this little riff.
_ _ [F] _
_ [B] _ _ _ _ _ [E] _ _
Now I'm using pull-offs, you can play it [D] straight if you want, [B] _
_ [F] _ _ [E] _ _ depending on the texture and
[Bb] the feel that you want, [B] but _ I'm trying to go for that kind of, you know, kind of swimmy,
kind of slurry type thing.
_ [F] That [E] _
_ _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
little pattern right there, [E] and once again, _
_ [B] use the vibrato.
[E] So, _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Bb] all three [Am] at the same time. _
_ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [F] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Am] _ _ _
_ Once again, _ _ don't be a slave to any of this, I mean it sounds like other things, it sounds
like maybe an old surf tune or a Chris Isaac tune or [E] something in that vein. _ _ _ _ _ _
These are just ideas, you know, that hopefully will stimulate you, rather than thinking,
oh I've got to learn that note for note and then never play anything else, that would
be a crime. _ _
