[Dm] Just [Bb] finished filming the Rory Gallagher [C] Learn to Play DVD.
[Gm] A fantastic guitar [D] player of the late 60s and [Bb] 70s.
[Gm] He's one of those [C] guitar players that
[D] does it properly.
[Bb] It's that [C] old school of guitar playing where it's just a [D] performance,
very [Bb] bluesy, loads of feel, [C] great tone, great [Dm] songs, great timing.
[Bb] It's the stuff that you should build [C] your more technical guitar playing on.
So
[D] hopefully [E] the people that [Bb] check out this DVD [A] can bear that in mind
as they're watching these songs and get something from [Dm] it.

The songs we chose is [Dm] Moonchild, which has got a great [A] playable riff and a fantastic solo.
We did Moonchild, [F] we did Do You Read Me, [G] which has got a great groove to [A] it.
Great for your feel, great for your rhythm playing.
[C] Again, fantastic solo.

[Em] [C] We also did [D] Shadowplay, which is a very playable riff.
There's just two sections really in it, [Dm] apart from the big guitar solos.
There's [Bb] two sections which if you don't [C] want to look at the guitar solo,
it's nice to be able to play that riff.
[Dm] It's very similar [Am] to [Bb] Sultan's A [C] Swing, but it was done long before Sultan's A [A] Swing.
We did [Bb] Secret Agent, which is great [C] if you want to get into some [D] slide playing.
It's [G] not the easiest song to learn to play if you [A] haven't got some technique with your slide in the first place.
But even if you can't get [G] all of it, you can get [D] little phrases and little tips [A] with the slide
and use it in your own [Am] playing.

[G] [D] I'd say there's something for everybody on this DVD.
For younger [C] players that maybe haven't heard of Rory Gallagher,
[G] [A] it's [Em] good to build, as I said, good to build more technical guitar playing on great bluesy phrasing,
which Rory Gallagher was great at.
Technique-wise, it's the [D] use of how he used the pentatonics.
[Em]
Simple but cool licks put together in an [C] exciting way.
[D]
Pinched harmonics, he did some [Em] tapping, he did some bending behind the nut.
He was all over the place.
He was just a [C]
complete [A] [D] showman.
Loads of [Em] showmanship in his playing.
